ITZY's "SHOOT!" Composer Clarifies Song Was Not Plagiarized, Releases Demo Track
On May 17 KST, one of ITZY's fansite, @ITZYBAR_CN, uploaded a video on their social media to help clarify the group's song, "SHOOT!" was not plagiarized.
In the video that the fansite uploaded, it can be seen that they directly messaged the composer for "SHOOT!," Alexander Pavelich, on his Instagram, explaining the plagiarism controversy that is surrounding ITZY and asking for clarification.

According to Alexander Pavelich, "SHOOT!" was written and made sometime in February 2020. In addition, he personally knows the composers of the song "SHOOT!" is being accused of plagiarizing: baard, Sivert Hagtved, and Hilda, who composed Snow Kong's "Call Me By My Name."
Alexander Pavelich also shares the demo track to further prove the song was not plagiarized. The file of the demo track can be seen dated on February 26, 2020, as well.
In another clarification with a fansite, Alexander Pavelich reveals that "SHOOT!" was originally called "Oomph."
ITZY's "SHOOT!" Accused of Plagiarizing Chinese Singer Song Kong's "Call Me By My Name"
On May 16, KST, ITZY's "SHOOT!," which is part of their fourth mini-album, "GUESS WHO," released on April 30, has been gaining attention in China for allegedly plagiarizing Chinese singer-songwriter Snow Kong's song "Call Me By My Name."
According to numerous netizens on Weibo, they noted how the two songs were similar and that "SHOOT!" even sounded like a cover of "Call Me By My Name."

They dug further into the songs and revealed that "SHOOT!" plays at 132 beats per minute in D minor, while "Call Me By My Name" is at 130 beats per minute in C minor. In addition, the two songs have a similar melody in the beginning, and for the chorus, both had double bass sounds and raps, netizens noted.
With too many similarities between "SHOOT!" and "Call Me By My Name," netizens have accused the producers and composers of "SHOOT!," Alexander Pavelich, earattack, Gigi Grombacher, Maria Hazell, Jerker Olov Harrison, Joakim Harestad, Haukass, Andy Love (153/Joombas), and Evard Forre Erfjord to have plagiarized the latter.
"Call Me By My Name" was released on December 25, 2020, as part of Snow Kong's "Matrix" album.
