Salutatorian Thanks BTS J-Hope for Giving Her Hope During Graduation Speech
On May 15, a video of Sydney Fowler, the salutatorian of the graduating class of Young Americans Christian School from Georgia in the United States, began circulating on various social media platforms.
In the video uploaded by her mother, who is also part of BTS's fandom, ARMY, called her daughter's speech "Hope World," which features Sydney Fowler giving a speech as the salutatorian, and talks about the process of overcoming and experiencing a completely different and unexpected school year due to the pandemic.

Sydney Fowler began her speech with a story relating to "Hope World," where she shared that in July 2020, she painted the art cover of J-Hope's mixtape, "Hope World," on her assigned parking space at school, which is given to seniors. At that time, she was filled with hope, but as soon as the pandemic hit and schools had to transition online, she lost hope. She adds that she was unable to spend Thanksgiving with her family and enjoy her last year in high school and that her trip to South Korea for her 18th birthday was also canceled.
However, her hope did not completely disappear, and it was because of J-Hope's speech for "Dear Class of 2020," a virtual graduation ceremony held by Youtube back in June 2020.
In the speech, J-Hope said that there would be times in your life when you question your own decisions, whether it's about your major, your profession, or whether you have made the right choice, whether you are doing well or walking the path of failure. But when you do, you must always remember, "You are the leader of your own life. And chant it over and over again. 'I can do it. You got it. I can do it well. I can do it better than anybody,'" said J-Hope.

Because of J-Hope's speech and the words he spoke, Sydney Fowler realized that she is the one who leads her own life and has control, and only she can bring back the hope that she had lost in her life. She ends her speech by saying that although she won't have access to the parking space that she painted, she will always have "Hope World" with her and that she hasn't lost hope in other aspects of her life, mentioning becoming an adult and the pandemic.
Sydney Fowler's speech has been liked and shared across Twitter numerous times and has reached other online communities.
