First Generation Pokemon To Appear In X And Y: Will Nostalgia For Red And Blue Bring Back Older Fans? [VIDEO]

Recently, rumors regarding first generation starter Pokemon Bulbasaur, Squirtle, and Charmander making appearances in Pokemon X and Pokemon Y for the 3DS injected some nostalgic excitement for the six generation release.

According to Sidhtech, a Professor Sycamore will be introduced during the hero's journey, where the character will give away one of the three original starter Pokemon.

Such a significant rumor has caused much reaction amongst Pokemon fans.

"I think, it is a big lie," said N-Handhelds blogger Michael Vincent.

"Like everything else, rumors such as this ultimately make the overall interest for Pokemon X and Y to significantly rise. If it is true, I'm sure us older fans will be delighted."

In addition, reports state that because of the advanced 3DS graphics capabilities, Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle will get updated looks.

This cryptic hint may seem more significant than it appears, especially given the confirmation of another first generation Pokemon, Mewtwo, set to return, only in a reported altered form.

Mewtwo's new form, currently called awakened form or éclair form, was introduced in the trailer for the Pokemon movie "Extremespeed Genesect: Mewtwo Awakens."

Reports still conflict whether this is a new Pokemon a la evolution, or simply a new form, but the tie to the original legendary Pokemon is a great way to bring back the older fandom.

With E3 set to host a 90 minute roundtable with Game Freak director Junichi Masuda and Pokemon Company president Tsunekazu Ishihara, hopefully this rumor will be addressed and answered during the Q&A portion of the event.

Check back on June 11 for more Pokemon updates after the E3 event!
