Mnet's girl group survival show, "Girls Planet 999: The Girls Saga," confirmed its first broadcast to be in August and released a teaser video for the show.

Mnet Finalizes 99 Contestants for 'Girls Planet 999', to Premiere in August
According to the teaser video for "Girls Planet 999," which was released on May 25 on Mnet's Youtube channel, Mnet K-POP, it took around five months, from January to May, to recruit, confirm, and finalize the candidates for the show.
In addition, it was confirmed that more than 13,000 people had auditioned for the program. Koreans, Chinese, and Japanese females who were born before January 1, 2006, independent or a trainee of a label, or have debut experience, were allowed to apply.
According to Mnet, the applicants went through a total of three preliminary rounds starting March, and through this, a total of 99 participants - with 33 participants each to represent Korean, Chinese, and Japanese culture, were finalized.

The logo for "Girls Planet 999" was also revealed for the first time. In the photo, there is a venn diagram of three circles surrounding a middle circle. It implies that people from different cultures who have the same dream will gather at "Girls Planet," which refers to a space where girls who transcend language and borders are connected through K-Pop.
The subtitle "The Girls Saga" is a foretelling that a great story will unfold among the participants.
Yoon Shin-hye, an official of the show, said that the journey is about finding the best combination through the process of harmony and growth between the participants. Viewers will experience a connection among the 99 participants from different cultures through various combinations and challenges in "Girls Planet 999."

As "Girls Planet 999" is a global debut project, it will broadcast live both domestically and internationally through platforms such as Youtube.
In addition, NCSoft's global K-Pop entertainment platform, "Universe," is expected to enhance the fairness of voting, as well as hear the thoughts and voices of global viewers. The "Universe" application will be operating as the show's official platform and partner. Besides voting, viewers can also check out various digital content and services offered within the platform and show.
With the successes of the channel's survival shows, such as the "Produce" series, which gave birth to I.O.I, Wanna One, IZ*ONE, and X1, it can be expected that both "Girls Planet 999" and the girl group that will be made out of the show will see success in the future as well.
"Girls Planet 999" will premiere in August, however, the exact date hasn't been announced yet.
