GOT7 Yugyeom Reportedly Preparing for Solo Comeback With Collaboration Featuring Gray
On Jun. 3, South Korean media outlets reported that Yugyeom would be making his long-awaited solo comeback in mid-June. The song will be produced by Gray, who will also be featuring on the song. This will be Yugyeom's first official release as an artist under AOMG.

Yugyeom first released his solo song, "The way you are," on Soundcloud on Mar. 4, 2017. He continued to release music that same year. On Jan. 1, 2018, he released his first solo mixtape, "dandelion."

GOT7 Yugyeom Signs With AOMG
Yugyeom was revealed to have signed with Jay Park's company AOMG back on Feb. 19, 12 MN KST. The AOMG social media accounts announced that the GOT7's main dancer has joined the AOMG family and that they will support Yugyeom in all his musical content.

To announce Yugyeom's addition to the AOMG roster, the label dropped a video showcasing the "Just Right" singer's dancing sklls. The video, titled "FRANCHISE Dance Visual," shows Yugyeom performing with other talented backup dancers. In less than 30 minutes of the video's release, "FRANCHISE Dance Visual" quickly amassed 100,000 views.
Prior to the video's drop, AOMG shared "coming soon" teasers back on Feb. 17 and Feb. 18 to hype up Yugyeom's addition to AOMG.
GOT7 Yugyeom Departure from JYP Entertainment
Yugyeom debuted as a member of GOT7 in 2014 under JYP Entertainment. After seven years as an artist under the label, reports started coming out in early Jan. 2021 that Yugyeom would be leaving JYP Entertainment and signing an exclusive contract with AOMG.

At the time, JYP Entertainment released a statement saying that contract renewals were still in discussions, and they were discussing various angles to possibly have the GOT7 members sign-on. They were also open to letting the members sign on with different agencies but still continue to work as a group.

On Jan. 11, JYP Entertainment confirmed that all of the members of GOT7 had chosen not to renew their exclusive contracts with the label. The members officially left JYP Entertainment on Jan. 19. Though the group has left their original agency, the members have stressed that they will remain as a group and will promote in the future.
