OMEGA X, the much-awaited boy group from Spire Entertainment, has formally announced their debut with the mini-album "VAMOS," set on June 30.
The eleven members of the upcoming rookie group made headlines when their talent management agency, Spire Entertainment, first made the announcement. OMEGA X is set to be the first boy group whose members come from disbanded groups or past survival shows. Tagged as a rookie supergroup, the eleven members include Jaehan, Hwichan, Sebin, Hangyeom, Taedong, Xen, Jehyun, Kevin, Junghoon, Hyuk, and Yechan.
Last June 5, the anticipated boy group posted a pair of photos on their Instagram account. Captioned "OMEGA X| 1st MINI ALBUM| 'VAMOS,'" the images are sixteen-celled photos with the word "VAMOS" scrawled along the middle. Eleven of the sixteen cells in the images contain teasers of the members' visuals, raising the fans' curiosity and anticipation with incomplete images of the OMEGA X members. The photos also include the words "1st Mini Album" and "June 30th Coming Soon," together with the group's logo - the Greek symbol for OMEGA and an X mark. One of the images is built on a black background, while the other is in white.
According to Spire Entertainment, the group's name refers to an unknown end. It comes from Omega, which is the last letter of the Greek alphabet and has been associated with "the end." This is paired with the letter X, which signifies the unknown. Their group name is a declaration of commitment and a promise to their fans that this group will stay with them until the end - whenever that may be.
Part of the incredible hype surrounding OMEGA X comes from the fact that its members are already known to the public before the lineup was announced. Some members have already debuted under now-disbanded or inactive K-pop groups, while others have previously joined some of Korea's reality survival shows. Either way, these are idols and performers who have charmed and impressed fans before, and their respective followings come together in the same way they did.
Additionally, fans have been connecting with their growing fanbase through their reality show "Loading - One More Chan X," a play on the words Chance and their group name X, as these idols receive a second shot at the K-pop industry. The series is available on the group's Official YouTube Channel and features the members doing various activities together, giving fans an intimate experience with OMEGA X prior to their debut.
While the group is yet to make their debut, they have already been awarded an honorary ambassadorship of Korea's Jeju Island. Additionally, they have already established a partnership with DDB Korea, the local arm of the global marketing leader DDB Worldwide. This puts OMEGA X in a unique position to be the next global phenomenon.
OMEGA X is set to make their debut with "VAMOS" on June 30, 6 PM KST.
