BTS to Release 'Butter' CD Featuring New Track + Snags Billboard Hot 100 for Three Weeks Straight

BTS to Release "Butter" CD Featuring New Track

On June 15, at around midnight KST, BTS' label, Big Hit Music announced on the global fan platform, Weverse, that BTS will be releasing a CD single for their recently digital single "Butter." "Butter," which was released on May 21, is the second song that the group released that is completely sung in English, following their first all-English hit song "Dynamite," which was released in August 2020.

According to Big Hit Music, the upcoming "Butter" CD is made to celebrate the birthday of ARMY, BTS' fandom, which is on July 9 - the date in which ARMY got their official fandom name. Big Hit Music also stated that the CD will not only include "Butter," but also a brand new track that is said to "make your heartbeat to the rhythm of the positive energy of BTS."

The "Butter" CD will be released on July 9 at 1 pm KST.

Previously, it was reported by SPO TV News that BTS will be making a comeback on July 9 with a new album. At the time, Big Hit Music did not confirm nor deny anything and only explained that they are finalizing their artists' schedules before making an announcement.

BTS' "Butter" Snags Billboard Hot 100 for Three Weeks Straight

On June 14 local time, Billboard announced on its official social media account the songs that have made it into Hot 100, a Billboard chart that ranks the most popular songs in the United States every week. Taking the number one spot is none other than BTS' "Butter" in its third consecutive week after it made its debut on the chart at No.1 last June 1.

This marks BTS' first song to chart for three consecutive weeks at No.1 on Hot 100. Previously, BTS' hit song "Dynamite" had snagged the No.1 spot on Hot 100 for three non-consecutive weeks, which makes "Butter" and "Dynamite" tied for the longest-running song at the top spot on the chart.

In addition, "Butter" also claimed the No.1 spot on Global Excl. U.S chart in its third week in a row, while the song dropped one spot to No.2 on Billboard's Global 200 chart.

Billboard also revealed that "Butter" had surpassed 15.4 million streams and 138,400 downloads in the United States in the week of June 10. The song also received 24.6 million radio airplay audience impressions in the week of June 13, seeing a 10 percent increase from the previous week which had 22.4 million.
