GOT7 Bambam Discloses How Sunmi Encouraged Him to Join ABYSS Company

After Bambam left JYP Entertainment this past January, it was reported and soon confirmed that he had signed an exclusive contract with ABYSS Company, home to Sunmi and Urban Zakapa.

In early May, GOT7 Bambam unveiled in a behind-the-scenes clip that she called Sunmi for advice and eventually joined ABYSS Company because of her. However, the male rapper didn't specify how the female soloist persuaded him.

On the latest episode of Mobidic YouTube show "Official Request," Bambam appeared as a guest. In addition to promoting his new solo track "riBBon," he also shared the story behind his decision to sign with ABYSS and how Sunmi influenced him.

GOT7 Bambam said that he called Sunmi and asked her: "How is the company?" The latter responded that the label provides a "good working environment." And with just this simple reply, he signed the contract immediately.

In the behind-the-scenes video uploaded in May, Bambam can be heard saying that it was a good choice to join ABYSS Company.

GOT7 Bambam's "riBBon" Music Video Surpasses 10 Million Views within 24 Hours

On June 15, Bambam returned to the K-pop scene as a solo artist with "riBBon," an album featuring a title track of the same name. With this album, the idol used a bright concept, which GOT7 as a group doesn't usually utilize for their songs.

Bambam's "riBBon" is a song with hopeful lyrics and an addictive melody that is easy to sing along.

On the same day, the music video for "riBBon" was revealed. The MV received a lot of attention that it exceeded 10 million views in the first 24 hours since its release at 6 p.m. KST.

As of noon KST, GOT7 Bambam's "riBBon" music video has surpassed 15 million views on YouTube.

Meanwhile, Bambam's "riBBon" album has maintained its place at No.1 on the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart on the second day after release. It also remained in first place on the European iTunes Album Chart.

Over on Hanteo Chart, GOT7 Bambam's first solo album sold more than 50,000 copies on the first, a total of 53,404 copies to be precise. On June 16, 2,834 more copies were sold.

Bambam will kick off his full-fledged music broadcasting activities today, June 17, on Mnet's "M Countdown. He will next appear on MBC's "Show! Music Core," SBS's "Inkigayo," and SBS MTV's "The Show.

In a recent online press conference, GOT7 Bambam shared that one of his goals with his "riBBon" album is to win first place on a music show. He also said that he hopes many people would learn more about him.
