BTS Becomes the First Artist This 2021 to Score This Feat on the Oricon Weekly Album Chart

BTS has recorded more sales on the Oricon Chart with their new Japanese album, "BTS, THE BEST"! The septet even obtained another notable achievement, which made them the first artist to do so this 2021.

BTS Becomes the First Artist This 2021 to Rank No. 1 on the Oricon Weekly Chart More Than Twice

On July 6, the Oricon Chart released the newest album rankings, dated July 12. The counting period took place from June 28 to July 4.

Based on the latest Oricon Weekly Album Chart, BTS's "BTS, THE BEST" stayed strong at No. 1 with 27,000 estimated number of sales in the past week.

BTS's new Japanese album has now maintained its position at the top for three weeks in a row, starting with the Oricon Chart dated June 28.

As of the past week, the seven-member global boy group has recorded cumulative sales of 885,000 copies on Oricon's album chart.

BTS is the first artist this 2021 to have taken the No. 1 spot on the Oricon Weekly Album Chart for three consecutive weeks.

In addition to this, the Bangtan Boys is the first-ever foreign group to spend three weeks in a row at No. 1 on Oricon's album chart in 17 years since Queen, who topped the chart with "Jewels" three times in 2004.

In the first week of sales of BTS's "BTS, THE BEST," the album sold a total of 782,000 copies on the Oricon Weekly Album Chart, setting a record for highest first-week sales this 2021.

The sales figure of "BTS, THE BEST" exceeded the first-week record of 564,000 copies that was set by the group's own "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 ~ THE JOURNEY ~ in July last year.

BTS's new Japanese album also made headlines after beating the 2021 highest first-week sales record with its first-day sales.

Apart from the Oricon Chart, BTS's "BTS, THE BEST" has also taken the No. 1 position on the latest Billboard Japan Top Album Sales with 28,384 copies. The boy group has now recorded a total of 915,492 copies on the Billboard chart.

"BTS, THE BEST" is an album that encompasses the Japanese songs released by BTS over four years since 2017, including the original Japanese track "Film Out" and the English-language 2020 single "Dynamite."

BTS "Butter" Attains Historic Milestone on Billboard Hot 100

In other news, the seven-member boy group has recently achieved another remarkable Billboard feat with their new English-language single, "Butter."

On Billboard Hot 100 for the week ending on July 3, BTS's "Butter" once again took first place, marking its fifth consecutive week atop the chart.

With this, BTS has extended their record for the longest-running No. 1 song on the Hot 100 chart.

Additionally, "Butter" becomes the second song by a single group in the history of Billboard Hot 100 to spend its first five consecutive weeks at No. 1.

The first group to obtain this milestone is Aerosmith with "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" back in 1998.
