While his playlist has many great releases from top K-pop artists, one song immediately caught people's eyes. Which song is it? It is none other than BLACKPINK's 2016 release, "STAY," from the group's second single album, "SQUARE TWO."
The song is considered one of BLACKPINK's most underrated releases. Though it is considered a title track and even has its own music video, the streams for "STAY" are low compared to the girl group's other releases. Though the music video has been out for over four years, the music video has only 279.7 million views. In comparison, "PLAYING WITH FIRE," which was released simultaneously as "STAY," has 665.9 million views.
Many were surprised to see the song included in J-Hope's due to how underrated "STAY" is among both non-fans and BLINKs (BLACKPINK's fandom). Online, ARMYs and BLINKs often clash on social media due to the group's popularity. Still, many K-pop fans chose to reconcile their differences after J-Hope revealed he was a fan of the BLACKPINK song.
Many realized that while "STAY" has not received much attention from the BLACKPINK fandom, it is still on the radar of other artists. Fans of both BTS and BLACKPINK complimented "STAY," saying it is a good song for studying and working due to how calm it is.
Others pointed out that despite the "fan wars" that happen between ARMYs and BLINKs, it is most likely the two artists are close or have a friendship; therefore, listening to each other's music is perfectly normal. Many are calling for the two fandoms to reconcile and stop fighting one another on social media.
Other songs in J-Hope's playlist are Crush's "Lay Your Head on Me," Sung Si Kyung's "And we go," Tablo's "Thank You For Breathing (feat. Yankee and Bong Tae Gyu), Taeyang's "LOVE YOU TO DEATH," and "Ater You Sleep (feat. Swings)," and Oh My Girl's "CLOSER."
