Katie Holmes and Luke Kirby were spotted in New York City shooting a steamy love scene for their upcoming movie "Mania Days."

Holmes was wearing just a bra as the two kissed and embraced before the cameras on the sultry summer day in the Big Apple. But is the chemistry between the couple off-set as well?

According to Yahoo! News, the 34-year-olds walked away from the shoot looking happy and smiling, even teasing each other playfully.

The two reportedly have a strong bond, Yahoo! News also reports: "There is a really strong connection between Katie and Luke. Everyone on set has noticed. They spend nearly every lunch break in her trailer together and went bowling last week. Katie says she loves working with Luke and hanging out. She hasn't seemed this happy for ages," a source told British magazine Grazia.

Katie divorced her husband Tom Cruise last June, after six years of marriage.

It is also rumored that Katie and Luke, a Canadian actor, were seen "almost holding hands" in New York's East Village recently. The pair were also spotted going out to dinner in New York last month.

However, some reports suggest that Luke is dating costume designer Andrea Sarubbi.

"Mania Days" is a film about two manic depressives who meet in a psychiatric hospital and fall in love, Us Weekly reports. The film will premiere in 2014.
