Sharon Jones Cancels Tour Amid Cancer Concerns After Stage 1 Bil Duct Diagnosis [Video]

Soul singer, Sharon Jones, has been diagnosed with cancer. The 57-year-old singer with group, the Dap-Kings, announced on her website she has cancer and its put album and tour plans on hold.

Jones announced the prognosis on her website where she wrote:

"Over the last few weeks I haven't felt good and I didn't know what was going on. We sadly had to cancel shows while I went through a series of tests and short hospital stays.

"We just found out that I have a stage-one tumor on my bile duct. Luckily we caught it really early and fast and the doctors say it's operable and curable! I will be having surgery very soon and will have to rest and recover.

"I'll be staying in touch and keeping my fans and friends updated on my progress. I'm looking forward to getting back on the road to give the people what they want!"

Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings have a new album coming out on August 6 entitled: Give the People What They Want. It's the group's sixth studio album, but now that release date is done, and there's no telling when we'll get some more soul-drenched lyrics from Jones.

According to the American Cancer Society, Bile-duct cancer affects a thin tube that connects the liver to the small intestine. Between 2,000 and 3,000 people are diagnosed with this type of cancer each year in the United States.

Jones' awful announcement did come tinged with a lot of optimism as the words above illustrated, but fans will have to wait to hear her new material with the Dap Kings and to see her gorgeous performances live.

Here are a couple Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings performances while we eagerly await her return to the stage and the recording studio.
