A new initiative from the Korea Tourism Organization (LA), together with KCON, searches for everyday heroes over the last pandemic-ridden year, launching a call to #DiscoverMyHero and #DiscoverKorea.
The world has been set back on all fronts by the coronavirus pandemic since it started last year: closing businesses, cancelling travel plans, and separating friends and family. In the middle of these challenging times, ordinary people stepped up and helped their fellow men.
For the next weeks, the Korea Tourism Organization (LA) and KCON are looking for people across the United States to nominate or tag their personal hero who helped them get through the pandemic as a part of the #DiscoverMyHero and #DiscoverKorea campaign.
Whether it's a family member, a friend, a colleague from work, or even a stranger on a chance encounter - heroes may take all shapes and sizes, but they all come when someone's in need.

Aware of travel restrictions and the added stress from staying mostly at home over the last year, the Korea Tourism Organization (LA) has prepared a few gifts in recognition of these everyday heroes, and they'll be accepting nominations until August 6, 2021.
The organizers will be selecting 50 unique stories or submissions, with both the nominee and the nominator receiving a specially curated K-Beauty Kit valued at around $500 apiece.
Furthermore, three sets of participants (nominator - nominee) will be flying to a studio in Los Angeles to receive a K-Beauty treatment, which the KTO Los Angeles will be documenting with a camera.
The #DiscoverMyHero and #DiscoverKorea campaign is on the KCON USA Instagram page, where the event mechanics, rules and guidelines are also detailed. Similarly, the organizers of the new initiative have furnished a copy of the event's official rules, together with the privacy notice and terms of use.
About KCON
KCON is the world's largest convention celebrating the Korean culture, especially its music and entertainment industries, first organized by Koreaboo together with Korean talent management agency CJ E&M. Starting in Southern California back in 2012, it has expanded to other parts of the US as well as a total of eight other countries.
Also, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the KCON event for 2020 was held online with the KCON:TACT running from June 20 to 26 on YouTube, Shopee, and AISPlay.
