Charice Pempengco Confirms Sexuality; Oprah’s Goddaughter and Singer of Hit Song ‘Pyramid’ Knew She’s A Lesbian At Age 5, Also Reveals The Special Girl In Her Life Now

The Filipina singer discovered by OPrah Winfrey and a former judge of X-Factor Philippines, Charice Pempengco, confirms that she is a lesbian.

Charice Pempengco, a Filipino Pop Star and an online singing sensation was discovered by the world through Oprah Winfrey when she brought the young singer to Chicago almost three years ago. Immediately after Charice was discovered by Oprah, the singer got a record deal and made chart-topping hits like "Pyramid" and "Louder."

Recently, the former Glee guest star who played the role of Sunshine Corazon sat on an exclusive interview in one of the most popular showbiz talk shows in the Philippines with host Boy Abunda where she finally admitted her sexual preference. "Opo, tomboy po ako (Yes, I am a lesbian)," Oprah's goddaughter revealed.

The 'Pyramid' singer finally broke her silence in the middle of a lot of issues and speculations surrounding her sexuality and her family. She also broke down while apologizing to her mother and brother and to fans who feel disappointed by her coming out. She also expressed her gratitude towards those who accept her. "But to those who can accept me, thank you very much. We are all equal, whether you are gay or straight," the 21-year old singer said during the interview. "

On a separate interview the day after she initially revealed her sexuality, she told that she already realized that she was gay when she was only 5 years old. She also admitted that the changes in her wardrobe and hairstyle are lead up to revealing who she really is. She said, "It's like the first step to freedom."

Charice Pempengco also reveals the girl who currently serves as her inspiration as she says, "She's like my everything." Charice and her girlfriend, Alyssa Quijano, knew each other a very long time ago, since they were still kids, both joining and competing against each other in singing competition.

Charice Pempengco also said that she did not keep her real sexuality to people very close to her like to her mentor and godparents, Oprah Winfrey and music compose David Foster. Charice also shared that after telling them, Oprah and David told that they were proud of her and still remain supportive of her career.
