BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" has broken the record for the longest-charting album by a female K-pop act on the Worldwide iTunes Album in history!
"THE ALBUM" is the quartet's first full-length album and was officially released in October 2020. It quickly debuted on iTunes charts all over the globe, including the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart and has since been ranking on the chart.

BLACKPINK's first full-length album first entered the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart, dated Oct. 2 when it claimed the No. 1 spot. It becomes the girl group's fourth album to debut at No. 1, following "SQUARE ONE," "SQUARE UP," and "Kill This Love."

BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" stayed atop the worldwide iTunes chart for a total of 10 days. Although it plummeted on the chart in the following weeks, it achieved a notable record for being the album by a female K-pop artist to last longer on the tally.
On the Worldwide iTunes Album Chart, dated Sept. 2, "THE ALBUM" secured the No. 168 spot after climbing down eight more places.
On the latest chart, the full-length album marked its 323rd day in the rankings. Because of this, BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" has now become the longest-running album by a female K-pop artist on the worldwide iTunes chart.
The quartet has broken their previous record for 322 days set by their 2019 EP "Kill This Love."

At the time BLACKPINK's first full-length album was released, it placed first on iTunes album charts in at least 57 countries across the globe one day after it was dropped. The countries including the United States, Hong Kong, Japan, Canada, Thailand, France, Brazil, and more.
"THE ALBUM" went on to record 66 No. 1s on iTunes, and so it has become the album by girl group with the most No. 1s in history.
In addition to this, BALCKPINK's "THE ALBUM" also topped the United World Album Chart and had massive sales of more than one million copies.

In other news, BLACKPINK's "THE ALBUM" has attained another impressive milestone on the Gaon Digital Chart.
As of Sept. 2, "THE ALBUM" has surpassed two billion digital points on Gaon, becoming the YG girl group's second album to do so after "SQUARE UP."
"THE ALBUM" now joins "SQUARE UP" as the only girl group album to cross two billion points on Gaon.

In addition to this, "THE ALBUM" is now the second girl group album with the most digital points on the Gaon Chart, following "SQUARE UP."
"THE ALBUM" is BLACKPINK's first Korean studio album in four years since their debut in 2016. It contains 10 new tracks, with "Lovesick Girls" serving as the title song. It also included the pre-released singles "Ice Cream" and "How You Like That."
The album won the "Best Album" award at the 2020 Asian Pop Music Awards and the 2021 Golden Disc Awards. It also received a nomination for "Album of the Year" at the 2020 MelOn Music Awards.
