Lady Gaga's Fake Nail Goes For $12,000 At Auction

After news broke last week that there was an online auction taking bids on Lady Gaga's arylic nail art, it may be safe to say that we are in an era in which nails can be considered an accessory, work of art, and obsession.

The catch is that only one fake nail was up for auction, not all ten.  What makes it even more intense is that the bid for Lady Gaga's single nail closed at $12,000.

The item was featured on ArtFact.com under the section titled 'unique memorabilia and autographs'.  The nail, said to be designed by artist Aya Fukuda, is black and decorated with tiny gold beads.

Even though some may strongly believe the acrylic tip of Lady Gaga's nail is worth that price, how the nail was found could turn anybody off.  The description said that Gaga's nail was recovered on the stage of Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland by a crew member after a performance. Initially, he thought the nail was a guitar plectrum.

Acompany the nail are 2 pictures, one showing Lady Gaga missing the nail during the Dublin performance and another with her sporting the same design in New York.  Additionally, the crew member provided a wristband, an Aviva Stadium staff handbook, and a Lady Gaga Born This Way Ball tour T-shirt to prove the nail's authenticity.

Yes, someone really did cough up that much money after getting that background story. If only the crew member could've gotten close enough to get a lock of Gaga's hair. That might of gone for millions.

Well, whoever the lucky bidder was, hopefully they have room for the nail on the Lady Gaga shrine they keep in the back of their closet.
