BTS Jimin Secretly Gives Donation for Polio Patients

BTS Jimin was belatedly known to have given a donation to Rotary District 3590 to provide help to polio patients.

On Sept. 22, Jimin was reported to have donated to Rotary District 3590 in July of this year, which the non-profit organization later confirmed.

BTS Jimin Makes Thoughtful Donation to Help Produce Vaccines for Polio Patients

According to Rotary District 3590, Jimin donated a total of 100 million won (almost 84,573 USD). They added that the donation was made under the name of the idol's father.

The non-profit organization further stated that BTS Jimin's donation was given to a fundraising campaign that aims to produce vaccines to get rid of polio.

They concluded that the collected funds will be revealed on Oct. 24, which is World Polio Day. This annual practice was launched by Rotary International to commemorate Jonas Salk, who created the vaccine to eradicate polio.

Like many of BTS Jimin's donations, his recent donation to help the polio patients was made in secret.

Jimin's donation only became known to the public when a fan discovered a banner featuring the BTS member hanging in downtown Gosung, Gangwon-do. Gosung is situated in the South Gyeongsang Province of South Korea, which is just beside Busan, Jimin's hometown.

The banner, which was hanged to thank the "Dynamite" singer, reads "BTS Jimin Donated 100 million won to the Rotary Foundation."

After the fan announced BTS Jimin's donation on social media, the other ARMYs (BTS's fans) expressed their respect and gratitude to the idol by using the keywords "THANK YOU JIMIN" and "CHARITY ANGEL JIMIN," which both ranked in real-time trends.

Rotary International is a humanitarian service organization with more than 1.2 million members in more than 200 countries and has 35,000 clubs.

BTS Jimin's Past Donations

This is not the first time that BTS member Jimin made a heartwarming donation. In August 2019, he donated 100 million won to the Busan Metropolitan City Office of Education.

The money, which was used for education development, was distributed to each school in Busan, including Jimin's alma mater, Busan High School of Arts, which received 30% of the total donation.

In February of last year, he donated new desks and chairs for all the students attending Busan High School of Arts, his alma mater.

In August 2020, BTS Jimin gave a thoughtful donation to the Jeonnam Future Education Foundation. The Jeonnam Office of Education shared that the idol gave 100 million won, which his father handed over to Jang Seok Woong, the chairman of the foundation, on behalf of Jimin.

Jimin's father asked the chairman to use the donation to help students in South Jeolla Province. This was the first time that the BTS member donated to the said province.

BTS Jimin has also inspired the fans to perform good deeds. One of his fan clubs donated 10 million won to Busan High School of Arts in January of last year. The money will be used as a scholarship to students who are studying music, dance, or art.

In October 2020, fans launched a "blood donation relay" project in celebration of Jimin's birthday.
