Prosecution Requests After School Lizzy Serve a 1-Year Prison Sentence for Drunk Driving

In the morning of September 27 KST, the Seoul Central District Court held the first trial for After School member, Lizzy - who know promotes under the same Park Soo Ah, regarding her charges for driving under the influence.

Back on May 19, Lizzy was booked without detention after she was caught drunk driving after crashing into a taxi that was in front of her at an intersection, while driving around in the neighborhood of Cheongdam in the Gangnam district at 10pm on May 18 KST.

According to reports, both Lizzy and the taxi driver did not sustain any injury, and that Lizzy's blood alcohol level at the time was found to be more than the legal limit of 0.08 percent, which is enough to have her driver's license revoked.

Recently on July 1, legal sources have also reported that the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office's seventh criminal division had indicted Lizzy without detention on the charges of violating the Road Traffic Act and the Act on Aggravated Punishment on Specific Crimes by driving under the influence of alcohol.

During the first hearing, the prosecution had requested that the court sentence Lizzy to one year in prison for having a blood alcohol level of 0.197 percent while driving.

In the hearing, Lizzy had admitted to the charges and expressed regret over her actions. "I have acknowledged all of the charges and I am reflecting on them. I am sorry to the taxi driver for causing damage. I am also sorry to the innocent bystanders who could have been harmed," said Lizzy.

She continued, "I am very regretful and currently reflecting. I am a person who has set strict standards for myself and have been advocating against driving under the influence, yet I have done that very wrong thing due to a wrong decision at a moment. I promise that this won't ever happen again in my life. I won't let anybody down from this point onward, including myself."

It was also reported that a settlement has been agreed on between Lizzy and the taxi driver.

Meanwhile, prior to the trial, Lizzy held an Instagram live broadcast on September 14, where she gave a heartfelt apology for the drunk driving incident.
