aespa 'Savage' Expected to Debut Inside the Top 30 of Billboard 200

aespa's "Savage" has attained impressive number of sales in the first week in the United States, and so the album is projected to debut on the upcoming Billboard 200.

Released on Oct. 5, "Savage" is aespa's first mini-album since their debut. It contains the title song of the same name and five B-sides. Like their previous songs, "Savage" also became a hit in South Korea.

On Oct. 15 local time, Headline Planet revealed the first-week sales of aespa's "Savage" in the US, during the tracking period of Oct. 8 to 14.

The media outlet stated that according to Hits Daily Double, the mini-album sold 16.1K copies in the United States during the said tracking period. Including the units from streams and track sales, "Savage" recorded 17.9K in total in its first week.

Based on the Hits data, aespa's "Savage" ranks second in terms of sales (bested only by Don Toliver's "Life of a Don") and places No. 23 in total activity.

Headline Planet then stated that Billboard's data and Hits Daily Double's data may have a slight difference from each other, but the respective rankings on Billboard 200 and Billboard Top Album Sales should be the same.

With almost 18,000 units sold in the US in its first week, aespa's "Savage" is expected to debut at No. 23 on Billboard 200.

This will be the first time since their debut that aespa will enter the US album chart as "Savage" is their debut EP.

When this happens, aespa will be the ninth female K-pop artist to land on Billboard 200 in history, following BoA, Girls' Generation- TTS, 2NE1, Girls' Generation, BLACKPINK, TWICE, LOONA, and ITZY.

In other news, aespa has recently achieved a new feat on the Hanteo Chart with their first mini-album.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. KST on Oct. 15, aespa's "Savage" has surpassed 300,000 copies sold on Hanteo. The milestone was attained in only 11 days since it was dropped on Oct. 5.

aespa now joins IZ*ONE as the only fourth-generation girl group, so far, with an album that sold 300,000 copies.

In addition to this, aespa's Savage" is now the best-selling debut album by a girl group on Hanteo of all time. It is the only debut EP by a female group to reach 300,000 copies.

"Savage" has surpassed BLACKPINK's "SQUARE UP," which has a cumulative sales amount of 194,569 copies.

In the first week since its release, aespa's "Savage" sold a total of 276,877 copies, from Oct. 5 to 11. It is an impressively promising start for a girl group that is yet to reach its first year in the K-pop industry.

With this accomplishment, aespa has become the girl group with the fourth-highest first-week sales on Hanteo in history - coming behind BLACKPINK, IZ*ONE, and TWICE.

Moreover, "Savage" now holds the second-highest first-week sales record of any 2021 album by a girl group, following TWICE's "Taste of Love, so far.
