BLACKPINK's COP26 Speech Receives Divided Opinions - Here's Why
On November 3, BLACKPINK shared their message to world leaders at the United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference, COP26 in Glasglow. There, the girls spoke about the need to act urgently to prevent climate change from worsening. They urge world leaders to take action to avoid the disastrous effects global warming could have on the planet.
Their positive message mainly was well-received by both fans and non-fans. However, some people in the BLACKPINK community decided to take this opportunity to take attention away from climate change's pressing issue and accuse YG Entertainment of mismanaging Jisoo.

The video, which was shared to BLACKPINK's official social media accounts, was soon flooded with messages that disregarded BLACKPINK's message in regards to climate change. Instead, people started complaining to YG Entertainment about BLACKPINK member Jisoo's solo debut.
Many started demanding updates for her solo debut in the comments under the video, with one BLINK commenting, "YG, thanks for the reminder about climate change, but Jisoo fans have been waiting for Jisoo's solo for almost three years. We are tired of your excuses. The other members have debuted as soloists, and Jisoo has finished filming her drama. So give us an update about Jisoo's solo debut."

BLINKs Defend BLACKPINK Against Rude Comments on the COP26 Speech
Many soon stepped in to defend BLACKPINK from such comments. People pointed out that those commenting such things are disrespecting the COP26 and embarrassing BLACKPINK in front of the institution. Their comments can also appear as shaming Jisoo in front of the world leader and the United Nations.

It was pointed out that the COP26 account was tagged in BLACKPINK's post, meaning they are most likely monitoring the activity of the post. With that, people pointed out how COP26 will see these comments and make judgments concerning BLACKPINK and their fan base based on the engagement they see on social media.
Others could not believe that their own fans were disrespecting BLACKPINK. BLACKPINK's speech against climate change is serious, and many are baffled by how people could demand a comeback or a member's solo debut during such a situation.
