ONF's "CITY OF ONF," SHINee's "Atlantis" and Jeon Soyeon's "Windy" Picked as the Top 3 Best K-pop Album Cover Designs in 2021

On Nov. 12, the results of the survey conducted by the music startup Space Audi regarding the cover designs of K-pop albums released this year were revealed during K-pop Radar's conference. The music industry and design experts, as well as fans, were the respondents for the survey.

The No. 1 best K-pop album cover design this 2021, according to votes, is that of ONF's "CITY OF ONF."

Released on April 28, "CITY OF ONF" is the repackaged version of the boy group's first studio album "ONF: MY NAME." The album was made available in two versions: CITY and ONF.

The album cover for ONF's "CITY OF ONF" drew attention by visualizing the worldview of the boy group while maintaining a simple look.

Sitting at No. 2 on the list of best 2021 K-pop album cover designs is SHINee's "Atlantis," which is also a repackaged album. It was also released in two versions: Adventure Ver. And Ocean Ver. It received favorable reviews for looking like a map with all those islands and blue oceans.

Notably, ONF and SHINee left an impression on the respondents as they developed their storytelling to a more complete level through their album cover designs.

After SHINee's "Atlantis" is Jeon Soyeon's "Windy," which came out on July 5. The album is placed in a cake box-like package, giving fans a different kind of fun.

NCT Dream's "Hot Sauce," AKMU's "Next Episode" & More Have the Best K-pop Album Cover Designs in 2021

As a result of the survey, NCT Dream's "Hot Sauce" ranked fourth. The album stands out for its cartoon-like concept and vibrant colors. What's more, the tracklist that can be seen on the album's package was created in a form of a food label.

Taking No. 5 on the list is "Next Episode," AKMU's first album release in almost two years since "Sailing" in September 2019. Its album cover is dominated by three colors (yellow, green, and blue), features clouds on the disk and has the words "AKMU" and "Collaboration Album (Next Episode)."

The final album that will complete the list of best K-pop album cover designs in 2021 is SHINee Key's "BAD LOVE," which was released in September.

The album cover for "BAD LOVE" perfectly embodies the 1980s subculture and cartoon concept, and shows Key seating on a futuristic metal chair.
