Wanna One Comeback Unlikely Due to Respective Labels and CJ ENM in Disagreement
On November 15 KST, Mnet announced that the "Produce 101" project group, Wanna One, will be reuniting for a special performance at this year's Mnet Asian Music Awards held on December 11 KST.
This special performance comes three years after the group disbanded back in December 2018, and is said to have been inspired by the collaboration between former Wanna One members Kim Jae Hwan, Lee Dae Hwi, Park Ji Hoon, Ha Sung Woon, and Park Woo Jin during the "KCON:TACT Season 2" back in October.
However, only 10 of the 11 members of Wanna One will be participating in the reunion, with Lai Kuan Lin sitting out.
For the past year, CJ ENM has been adamant on getting the Wanna One members to reunite for a special performance, and eventually for a group comeback such as releasing new albums and holding a concert. In fact, CJ ENM has been having discussions with each of the members' labels for the possibility.
Unfortunately, the likeliness of a Wanna One comeback is low as some of the labels are against the idea.

Pledis Entertainment, which houses NU'EST member and former Wanna One member Hwang Minhyun, explained to Dispatch why they refuse the comeback proposal.
"It is true that Hwang Minhyun will be performing at the 2021 MAMA, but he will only participate in the [Wanna One] performance as a one-time special," Pledis Entertainment said.
The label added that Hwang Minhyun currently has a busy schedule that overlaps with the preparations for NU'EST's concert and his filming for the tvN drama "Return." Therefore, it will pose difficulty to even participate in any Wanna One activities.
As for Ong Seong Wu, he had also decided to join the special performance despite his busy schedule, and is currently filming for his upcoming Netflix film "Seoul Vibe" and "Jung Family Cattle Ranch."
As such, many of the members are busy with their respective careers, such as their own music releases and drama productions.

Wanna One officially concluded their group activities with their concert "Therefore 2019" held at the place they debuted at, the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
