BTS and aespa Included in '2021 Visionary' List, Among the Public Figures Who Contributed to the Korean Entertainment Industry

On Nov. 24, CJ ENM released their "2021 Visionary" list and one of the public figures mentioned are BTS and aespa, who continuously dominate the K-pop scene with their addicting songs.

Launched in 2020, CJ ENM's "Visionary" lists public figures from different fields such as music, film, broadcasting, performance and others who contributed to innovation and advancement in Korean entertainment in a certain year.

According to CJ ENM, the theme for the 2021 edition of Visionary was centered on various aspects including "Human Centric Metaverse" and "Expanded Universe," where viewers were immersed in the content extending beyond the boundaries of time, space, reality, or virtual.

The other aspects are the "Hyper Entertainmentism," which refers to people who gave a new definition to entertainment by breaking the existing formula utilized in the entertainment field, and "Empathy for Coexistence," which is about having the realization of the value of standing together during the pandemic.

In the case of aespa, the rookie girl group was chosen to be part of CJ ENM's 2021 Visionary for creating a new fandom culture through introducing their unique universe featuring the avatar versions of each member.

Because of this avatar concept, aespa went beyond the boundaries of fan culture and opened a new door of new possibilities in the Korean music industry.

As for BTS, CJ ENM included the septet in their 2021 Visionary for their continuous influence across the globe not only through their music but also through their actions.

This is the second time BTS was named as a top contributor to the Korean entertainment industry since 2020.

Meanwhile, the other public figures included in the list are "Squid Game" director Hwang Dong Hyuk, "Street Woman Fighter" PD Choi Jung Nam, Yoo Jae Suk and Yoon Yuh Jung.

BTS and aespa Enter Hanteo's Weekly Album Chart for Week 46 of 2021

In other news, albums by BTS and aespa made it to Hanteo's Top 30 best-selling albums in the 46th week of the year, which ran from Nov. 15 to 21.

In particular, aespa ranked No. 21 with their first mini-album "Savage," which sold 3,219 total copies in the past week. It was released on Oct. 5 this year and yet it is selling more copies even after over a month since it came out.

aespa's "Savage" is best known as a half-million-seller album as it sold more than 500,000 copies in 15 days after it was dropped.

On another note, BTS has four entries on Hanteo's latest weekly album chart. The first one is "Butter" at No. 19 with 3,598 copies sold.

The next albums are from BTS's "Love Yourself" series such as "Love Yourself: Tear" (No. 23), "Love Yourself: Answer" (24) and "Love Yourself: Her" (29). All three of them sold more than 2,000 copies in the previous week.

The band's "Love Yourself" series started back in 2017 and ended in 2018 but up until now, more copies are being sold, proving BTS's expanding popularity.
