Spotify Announces BTS as the Most Streamed K-Pop Artist in 2021
On December 1 local time, the world's largest music platform Spotify finally unveiled this year's "Spotify Wrapped," a yearly compilation of data based on users' activities on the platform that is released every start of December.
This year, Spotify announced that global superstars and Grammy-nominee BTS took the top spot as the most streamed K-Pop artist of this year, who was then followed by BLACKPINK, TWICE, Stray Kids, and TXT.
According to Spotify, the number of streams for K-Pop by users from all around the world this year had increased by about 29 percent as compared to the previous year of 10.6 billion if only the Top 10 groups were counted.
This year, there were about 13.7 billion streams from the Top 10 K-Pop artists alone, including BTS.
Not only that, but BTS also placed within the Top 5 in Spotify's most streamed global artist this year, with BTS taking the third spot, following behind Bad Bunny and Taylor Swift, and overtaking Drake and Justin Bieber.

This also makes BTS the most streamed group act on the platform in the United States and all over the world, as well as the most streamed Asian artist.
BTS Dominates Top Spots for Most Streamed Songs on Spotify in 2021
In addition, BTS also dominated the top spots for the most streamed songs on Spotify among K-Pop artists, with a total of four of their songs taking the Top 4 places.
According to Spotify, BTS' "Butter" is the No. 1 most streamed song this year with more than 648,684,868 streams, which is followed by their 2020 hit "Dynamite" at No. 2, "Permission to Dance" at No. 3, and finally, "Life Goes On" at No. 4.

Snagging the fifth spot is BLACKPINK's mega hit song "How You Like That," which is once again followed by BTS and their 2019 track "Boy With Luv" that featured American singer Halsey claiming the No. 6 spot for the most streamed K-Pop song in 2021.
Aside from BTS as an entire group, each of the members are also showing their global popularity on the platform.
This year, BTS members Suga (who goes by Agust D as a solo artist), RM, J-Hope, and V make it within the Top 10 male Korean solo artists.
Agust D ranks No. 1 with "Daechwita;" RM at No. 4 with "seoul;" J-Hope at No. 6 with "Chicken Noodle Soup;" and V at No. 8 with "Sweet Night."
