On Dec. 2, a music industry official stated that the Korean government has decided to place all people entering Korea from overseas under a 10-day self-quarantine starting on Friday, Dec. 3, regardless of their nationalities and vaccination status.

South Korea's new quarantine measures were implemented in response to the emergence of the Omicron variant, which is gradually being detected in different countries across the globe.

BTS is currently in the United States and has been there since Nov. 17 for their concerts and show appearances in Los Angeles. Their last schedule is to attend the iHeartRadio Jingle Ball Tour, which is set to take place on Dec. 3. Following that, the septet will return to Korea.

However, due to the 10-day quarantine, BTS will be released on Dec. 14, making them miss the 2021 MAMA that is scheduled for Dec. 11.

As of writing, Mnet has not confirmed whether the "Butter" singers will attend this year's awards ceremony or not, although they responded that the matter is in the discussion.

Meanwhile, BTS took part in Mnet Asian Music Awards last year and took home eight trophies, including four grand prizes.

BTS Dominates the Top 5 of the Latest Billboard Hot Trending Songs Chart

In other news, BTS consistently ranks high on Billboard's Hot Trending Songs Chart with their hit English-language songs "Butter," "My Universe" with Coldplay, and "Permission to Dance."

In particular, BTS's "Butter" has once again claimed the No. 1 spot with 4.5 million Twitter mentions in the tracking week, which ran from Nov. 19 through Nov. 25.

"Butter" became the most-talked-about topic on Twitter mainly on Nov. 21 when it took home the trophy for Favorite Pop Song at the 2021 American Music Awards. Plus, on Nov. 23, the track was announced as a nominee for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

Following "Butter" on Hot Trending Songs Chart is "My Universe" at No. 2 with 1.5 million Twitter mentions, marking an increase of 114% compared to last time. The mentions went up after BTS performed the song with Coldplay at the AMAs.

BTS has now reigned the weekly Hot Trending Songs Chart for six consecutive weeks since the chart was launched.

Another BTS song within the Top 5 is "Permission to Dance," which claimed No. 5 this week after ranking No. 13 last week. This song previously topped the chart, dated Oct. 30

"Butter," "My Universe" and "Permission to Dance" have now all spent six weeks on Billboard's Hot Trending Songs Chart. They are among the longest-running songs on the tally along with BLACKPINK Lisa's "LALISA" and "MONEY."

Outside the Top 5, BTS's first English hit, "Dynamite," secured the No. 12 after going down to No. 16 last week. Solo songs of the BTS members also made it to this week's chart - Jin's "Yours" placed No. 11 while Jungkook's "Falling" debuted at No. 20.
