ITZY Yeji to Not Attend the 2021 Asia Artist Awards (AAA) due to Back Injury

ITZY Yeji won't be able to appear on the 2021 AAA (Asia Artist Awards) due to her recent back injury, as per JYP Entertainment.

On Dec. 2, JYP Entertainment released a notice through ITZY's official social media accounts to inform fans of the change in ITZY member Yeji's schedule today.

According to the notice, Yeji can't make it to the awards ceremony of the 2021 AAA, which is set to take place later today at 6 p.m. KST, due to a back injury that she suffered while pre-recording a performance for the said event.

The company also stated that the doctor advised ITZY Yeji to minimize her physical movements and get a lot of rest. "And since prioritizing our artist's health comes first, we have come to this decision which we hope fans will understand," they continued.

JYP Entertainment ended their notice by saying, "The agency will continue to do its best toward Yeji's full recovery. Thank you."

Yeji, along with her fellow ITZY members, is set to perform at the 2021 AAA. But, due to her back injury, she won't be joining her bandmates in the awards show.

This year will be the third time that the JYP girl group will attend Asia Artist Awards since their debut in 2019. And, they have also been nominated and won in different categories.

Following JYP Entertainment's announcement about ITZY Yeji's condition, fans took to Twitter to show their concern for the idol. Fans are including the phrase "GET WELL SOON YEJI" on their tweets alongside their comforting messages to the singer.

Fans are also using the hashtags "#예지버블" "#옞덩봤덩" and "#GetWellSoonYeji." As of writing, the tweets about Yeji have exceeded 5,000 and the phrase "GET WELL SOON YEJI" is gradually climbing up Twitter's trending topics.

We wish ITZY Yeji a speedy recovery.

ITZY's Nominations and Wins in the Previous Asia Artist Awards

ITZY's first appearance at Asia Artist Awards is in 2019, the year they made their debut. At that time, they were nominated in three categories such as "Rookie of the Year," "Popularity Award - Singer" and StarNews Popularity Award - Female Group."

Among these three categories, ITZY took home the trophy for the "Rookie of the Year," along with two other rookies namely TXT and AB6IX.

In 2020, the JYP girl group was nominated for the "Hot Issue Award" and "Choice Award" categories. Impressively, they won in both categories, making their AAA trophies a total of three.

At this year's awards ceremony, ITZY was nominated in the "Popularity Award - Idol Group (Female)." It is yet to be revealed whether they won in this category or a different one.

Meanwhile, the quintet is expected to perform their latest title track "LOCO" from their first full album "CRAZY IN LOVE."

ITZY's "LOCO" is a Neo Fusion Groove song that features a combination of elements of Latin dance, Fusion groove, Moombahton and trap sounds and expresses the mixed emotions felt when you're in love.
