Is Girls’ Generation Preparing for a Comeback? Here are the Signs They Might Be

Rumors of Girls' Generation potentially preparing for a comeback have surfaced following a few signs from the members and SM Entertainment.

Keep on reading for all the details.

Here's Why People Think Girls' Generation Might be Preparing for a Comeback

On December 8, 2021, eagle-eyed SONEs (Girls' Generation fans) noticed that SM Entertainment updated the profile picture and header of the group's social media account. This came as a surprise to most people, as SM Entertainment had been promoting the members under the company as individuals rather than a group. Many soon started to speculate the group may be preparing for a comeback.

It was soon noted that Girls' Generation's official Instagram account had followed all eight group members.

Previously, the account was only following Yoona. Notably, the account follows Seohyun, Tiffany and Sooyoung, who had all left SM Entertainment on October 10, 2017.

Others noticed that Taeyeon had dyed her hair black after having it blonde. On December 8, Taeyeon shared a series of mirror selfies to her Instagram account. While the main focus was most likely her slim figure, which she flaunted with a sports bra and pants with cutouts at the waist, people quickly noticed the change in hair color. Though she was wearing a hat, fans could see bits of her hair sticking out from the side.

A hair color change usually indicates a new comeback in K-pop, and idols usually hide their hair whenever they try to keep their comeback a secret. Because of that, people speculate that Taeyeon or Girls' Generation as a whole may be prepping for a new musical release.

Additionally, on December 8, both Taeyeon and Yuri shared Instagram stories of them at the SMTOWN Store & Cafe. Though they did not show each other in their stories, people speculate the two were together since they were at the exact location at the same time. This has also led people to wonder if they will be making a comeback soon.

As of the time of writing, SM Entertainment has not confirmed if Girls' Generation will be having a comeback.
