BTS Surpasses Taylor Swift to Become the Artist Who Topped Billboard's Digital Song Sales Chart the Most

On December 14 local time, Billboard released their latest charts dated for the week of December 18, and announced that global superstars BTS and their hit summer single, "Butter," which was released back in May, climbed back to the top of their Digital Song Sales chart.

As a result, "Butter" has snagged another No. 1 on the chart for its 18th non-consecutive week on Digital Song Sales chart, making the song tie with BTS' record-breaking 2020 release, "Dynamite."

In addition, Billboard announced that with "Butter" taking the top spot on the chart once again, this would mark BTS' 46th time ranking at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart in their entire career; thus, making BTS the artist with the most weeks at No. 1 in the history of Billboard's Digital Song Sales chart, and surpassing American singer Taylor Swift's record.

Not only that, but "Butter" also topped the weekly Hot Trending Songs chart - a chart created back in October that ranks the most mentioned songs on Twitter for the last 24 hours or seven days in real-time.

BTS Snags a Spot on Other Billboard Charts

"Butter" isn't the only song of BTS seeing success on Billbaord charts.

BTS and British rock band Coldplay's collaboration song "My Universe," which was released back in September, is also continuing to show its popularity on the Billboard charts.

This week, the song ranks at No. 59 on Billboard's main chart for singles, Hot 100; marking the song's 11th week in a row on the chart.

In addition, "My Universe" also ranked at No. 9 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart; at No. 8 on Canada Hot AC; at No. 22 on Pop Airplay; at No. 5 on Radio Song; and at No. 27 on the Canadian Digital Song Sales chart.

BTS also has four songs charting on Billboard's Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S charts. Over on Global 200, "Butter" ranks at No. 25; "My Universe" at No. 29; "Dynamite" at No. 53; and "Permission to Dance" at No. 81.

As for the Global Excl. U.S, "Butter" is at No. 15; "My Universe" at No. 18; "Dynamite" at No. 36; and "Permission to Dance" and No. 53.

This week, BTS' fourth regular album, "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7," charted at No. 161 on Billboard's main album chart, Billboard 200. The album also climbed 14 spots from the previous week to land at No. 52 on th Top Album Sales chart.

As for BTS' award-winning album "BE," which was released in November of last year, it ranked at No. 83 on the Top Album Sales chart and at No. 41 on the Top Current Album Sales chart.

On the other hand, BTS member Jin's special self-composed song released in celebration of his birthday back on December 4, "Super Tuna," ranked at No. 12 on the Hot Trending Songs' weekly chart. His first solo OST, "Yours," for the tvN drama "Jirisan" also landed at No. 18 on the same chart.
