But Where are IU, BTS, TWICE and BLACKPINK? 2021 SBS Gayo Daejeon Lineup Receives Mixed Reactions
While many K-pop fans rejoiced, some expressed disappointment over the lineup of the 2021 SBS Music Festival.
"It's sad that all the hot singers are out," a fan wrote.
Others were dissatisfied that BTS and TWICE, who released a new album this year, were not in the lineup.
The lineup also made fans feel bitter after not seeing IU's name, who dropped her fifth full-length album "LILAC" in March and her single "Strawberry Moon" in October.
BLINKs were also disappointed that their bias group BLACKPINK will not participate the music show ceremony and even sat out other year-end events. Their last full group activity was their first full-length album, "THE ALBUM," in October last year.
Some emphasized that even the active BLACKPINK members in the music industry, such as Rosé and Lisa, were also not part of the roster, despite debuting solo this year.
Amid criticism, there were people who said, "The lineup is okay, what's wrong?" and "Now is enough," "What do you mean there is no hot idol in the lineup?" "The artists in the lineup are the hottest idols, though."
Meanwhile, the theme of the 2021 SBS Gayo Daejeon, which will be broadcast live at Incheon Namdong Gymnasium at 6 p.m. on December 25, is "WELCOME," which will feature a special stage hoping to return to the offline era of where singers, fans, music and people can meet again.
