EXO Wins 4 Titles Including Best Selling Male Group at China's Year-End Awards Show in 2021

EXO has taken home four awards at China's year-end award shows in 2021, all of which are related to being the best-seller with their special album "Don't Fight the Feeling."

On Dec. 16, the winners at a year-end awards ceremony in China were revealed, and one of them is the nine-member K-pop boy group EXO, who earned a total of four titles.

First, EXO won the "Best Selling Group Album" with "Don't Fight the Feeling." The album sold a total of 493,000 digital copies sold since its release in June, earning 7,399,000 yuan and becoming the No. 1 best-seller in China in 2021.

Since the album recorded the highest sales in the country, the nonet naturally received the "Best Selling Male Group" (Albums) and the "Best Selling K-pop Album."

EXO's fourth award at China's year-end show is "Best Selling K-pop Artist" (Albums) with "Don't Fight the Feeling."

Just two hours and 19 minutes after the album's release in June, EXO's "Don't Fight the Feeling" was certified triple platinum in China after surpassing three million yuan in sales. It also topped the Digital Album Sales charts on China's QQ Music, Kugou Music and Kuwo Music.

EXO is one of the K-pop groups and one of the only two boy groups alongside BTS that was awarded at China's year-end awards show this year.

Released on June 7, "Don't Fight the Feeling" marks the band's first group comeback in over a year and a half - the band last returned to the music scene as a whole in 2019 with their sixth full album "OBSESSION." It consists of five songs, one of which is the title track "Don't Fight the Feeling."

"Don't Fight the Feeling" broke EXO's records for the highest stock pre-orders and fastest album to sell one million copies. It reached 1.2 million pre-orders within a 27-day period and sold over one million copies in just eight days (surpassing "Don't Mess Up My Tempo, which took ten days to achieve the feat).

On top of that, "Don't Fight the Feeling" is now EXO's sixth album to cross the one-million-sales mark, making the group a sextuple million-seller.

For the week ending on June 19, EXO's "Don't Fight the Feeling" entered Billboard's Global 200 at No. 64 and Global Excl. U.S. at No. 33 - marking the boy group's first-ever appearance on both charts, as they were both launched in September last year.

"Don't Fight the Feeling" also debuted at No. 6 on the World Digital Song Sales, No. 8 on the World Albums, No. 55 on the Top Current Album Sales and No. 96 on the Top Album Sales chart.

Moreover, EXO's "Don't Fight the Feeling" has become the first and fastest album from SM Entertainment to reach No. 1 on iTunes Albums charts in a total of 87 countries. It is the first SM album by a boy group to surpass 80 No. 1s as well.
