Sandara Park achieved her first Daesang after going solo! During her speech, the female icon mentioned 2NE1 and her former agency YG Entertainment for this hilarious reason.
On the afternoon of Dec. 29, the 2021 MBC Entertainment Awards was held at MBC's new building in Sangam, which was attended by the top and rising personalities in the entertainment scene.
Among them, Sandara Park, a former member of 2NE1, joined the annual event and received her first-ever solo Daesang after she left YG Entertainment.

In the awards ceremony, Dara bagged her first solo Daesang, "Popularity Award."
As she gave her speech, the "Fire" singer conveyed she didn't expect to take home any award, and mentioned her time when she was still actively promoting as 2NE1 in YG Entertainment.
"I thought I was coming just to clap (to the winners). I didn't expect it... I received a lot of awards as 2NE1, but I think it's my first award after being alone," Dara said.

"The trophies I've received so far... my mom asks, 'Where are all the trophies?' If YG Entertainment staff (members) are watching, please send me some copies," the female star added, sparking laughter.
As her speech concluded, Dara also expressed her gratefulness to the shows she was cast, as well as to her current company.
"I also thank "King of Mask Singer" and "I Live Alone" where I only appeared once, but thank you. I also built a new bird's nest. Thank you Abyss Entertainment for working hard for me."
2021 MBC Entertainment Awards: K-pop Idols Who Won Awards from the Ceremony
Aside from Dara, numerous K-pop idols also shone bright at the annual awards event. Along with her, SHINee Key also snagged the same "Popularity Award."
Lovelyz Mijoo then won "Best Couple," along with Yoo Jaesuk and HaHa, as well as the "Rookie Award for Variety."
Lastly, Girls Generation Yuri, Aiki, Fin. K.L. Joo Hyun and (G)I-DLE Soyeon got the title for "Special Award for Variety."
The MBC Entertainment Awards was launched in 1990. The ceremony is sponsored and organized by MBC, one of the largest broadcasting networks in Korea, as a year-end celebration.
The ceremony aimed to honor entertainment personalities, stars and programs that brought laughter and happiness to viewers even amid the pandemic. This year, singer-entertainer Yoo Jaesuk took home the Grand Prize for Entertainer, his 8th daesang from MBC.
