PSY's Solo Comeback to Take Place in 2022 + Soloist Unveils Why He Didn't Release a New Album in 2021
On Dec. 29, some of the highlights from PSY's 2019 concert "All Night Stand" were broadcast as SBS's year-end special. The broadcast also featured an interview with the male soloist. At some points during the talk, he shared his supposed plans this year and upcoming plans.
PSY said that he had plenty of plans for 2021, however, he didn't drop a new album as he thought that it would be meaningless to release new music without having any performances.

He then expressed his determination to drop make a solo comeback by saying that no matter what circumstances come next year, he will release his ninth album. The "Gentleman" singer added that he hoped to get back at the daily life everyone used to have.
PSY further stated that he is more confident than any other year when it comes to writing a new song or performing. He also said that aside from releasing a new album, he will try to hold a concert in 2022.
At the end of the interview, the P Nation founder lauded his fans for working hard this year and hoped for them to take good care of their health as COVID-19 is on the rise once again.

PSY is well known for his mega-hit songs "Gangnam Style," "Gentleman," "Daddy," "New Face" and more. He is also regarded as the king of concerts as he always often takes No. 1 in ticket sales in South Korea. It is said that the secret behind the popularity is soloist's concert is that the singer provides a fun year-end atmosphere that audience members want to feel.

PSY's Latest Solo Comeback with His Eighth Studio Album "4X2=8"
PSY's last solo comeback is back in May 2017 when he released his eighth studio album "4X2=8," which features the title songs "New Face" and "I Luv It" alongside eight B-side tracks. This album also marked his last music release under YG Entertainment before he left the agency and established his own label, called P Nation.
The music video for PSY's "New Face" ranked No. 5 on the list of the most popular K-pop MVs in South Korea in 2017, and it came in No. 10 on the international list. In almost eight months since its release, the "New Face" MV surpassed 100 million views on YouTube.

Meanwhile, the other title track "I Luv It" dominated three domestic music charts at the time of its release namely MelOn, Monkey3 and M-Ney. This song even earned PSY two music show wins. Further, the "I Luv It" MV is PSY's seventh music video to hit 100 million YouTube views.
