VERIVERY Minchan Issues Apology After Criticizing Senior Female Idol's Appearance

On January 9, VERIVERY members held a live stream on Naver's V Live to celebrate their third anniversary as a group. However, while many were happy to celebrate the boy's anniversary, the atmosphere was not bright due to member Minchan's scandal. Previously, the idol was caught under fire after insulting a female senior idol's appearance during a live stream on January 7.

Minchan bowed his head to the camera during the anniversary live stream as he stood, and his members all became quiet. The idol then apologizes for his recent controversy, saying, "First of all, I want to say I am sorry. I want to apologize to the person who was hurt by my careless words and actions and to the many people who felt uncomfortable by me."

The members also promised to be better, saying that they were no longer young. They said, "Next year and the year after that, we will show you a better and more mature image."

Previously, Minchan drew backlash after revealing that a celebrity moved to his school when he was in his third year of middle school. He then said that seeing her broke his fantasies of celebrities. He initially saw stars as pretty and handsome, "like someone from another world," but that this female idol appeared ordinary and that she did not have any outstanding looks.

Many criticized the idol for commenting on someone's looks. People were further enraged since he was insulting a senior in the industry. His members were seen trying to divert the topic and reminding Minchan that he was talking about a senior, but the idol continued to talk about the situation.
