IVE Yujin and Liz's Cover of Taeyeon's 'Four Seasons' Draws Conflicting Reactions
Following a string of controversies, the Korean public has begun to have a stricter view of the rookie group IVE. One of the problems Korean internet users often point out is the group's vocal talent. Jang Wonyoung has been called out for her technique, while IVE as a whole has been called out for not singing or dodging lines during encore stages.
As IVE's vocal ability continues to get dissected, a vocal cover by members Ahn Yujin and Liz has resurfaced. In the video, the girls perform Taeyeon's "Four Seasons" on MBC's "FM4U Good Morning FM" radio program on December 6, 2021.

Ahn Yujin and Liz are the main and lead vocalists of IVE, respectively. Due to their heavy vocal positions, many looked forward to the two showing off their singing prowess and shutting down the accusations that they could not sing.
However, their cover has since sparked mixed opinions, with some saying that they chose the wrong song to sing.
Overall, the cover is clean, clear and at a good level for a rookie group that debuted just a month ago. However, when people compare them to the main vocals of other fourth-generation K-pop girl groups, such as aespa's Ningning and STAYC's Sieun, it is believed that Ahn Yujin and Liz have weaker vocals.

People also stated that their voices lacked the emotion and vocal color needed for Taeyeon's "Four Seasons." In addition, the cover also showed that their vocals required more training.
However, many have stood up to defend the two IVE members. People stress that their version is a simple cover and is not meant to be perfect like the original. Others state that it is commendable that the two members performed as well as they did, as the song is vocally challenging, and they were still able to pull it off.
They earned applause from some, while others complimented them but stated there is room for improvement.
