BLACKPINK Jisoo Proves Potential As She Collects First 'Best New Actress' Trophy

On Jan. 20, various Korean media outlets released the news of the idol-actress winning her first rookie actress award at the 2nd DDU Awards (Thailand Korean Drama Awards). The results are measured by 30% fan vote and 70% team score.

In particular, Jisoo cemented her acting career after she debuted with JTBC's drama, "Snowdrop," which first aired on December 18, 2021, through the channel and is available on stream on Disney Plus.

Although the drama was initially embroiled in a series of controversies, Jisoo received rave reviews from overseas viewers and fans.

The "Lovesick Girls" singer was particularly praised for playing the role of the main character Young Ro perfectly.

In the drama, Young Ro (Jisoo) first appeared as a pure and cheerful college student and later on showed her strong expressions as the drama progressed. It is an acting skill that completely eliminates idol Jisoo and only left the impression of actress Jisoo.

Meanwhile Jisoo's debut drama continues to trend on SNS. Over Twitter and Instagram, overseas fans share various posts about it with specific hashtags. In particular, when new episodes are released, streaming rankings soar, continuing to be popular even in the second half.

Jisoo, a member of the global group BLACKPINK continues to draw attention for her acting. Due to this, it is not inevitable that the female K-pop idol turned actress feels the pressure as well.

On Jan. 19, JTBC released a new video of Jisoo and her co-actor Jung Hae In, under the segment, "JTalk."

When asked about her feelings as she plays Young Ro, Jisoo confessed, "I focused on becoming the real Young Ro as much as possible. I tried a lot to think about those situations in the mind of Young Ro. I tried to express her growing spirit in the changing circumstances."

As a result, Jisoo perfectly embodied her role, even winning her first-ever "Best New Actress" title in Thailand.

On the other hand, as Jisoo focused on her acting career, BLINKs are curious when they will meet BLACKPINK once again.

According to Samsung Securities, "BLACKPINK, whose hiatus has been longer than expected, is also expected to resume activities as a full group in the middle of this year."
