Kim Jihoon Shock: Former Big Hit Trainee Reveals THIS is Why He No Longer Tells Fans He Almost Joined BTS

Former Big Hit trainee Kim Jihoon candidly opened up about his struggles as a performer, his biggest regrets, and why he no longer tells other people he was supposed to be part of BTS.

In a Vice Asia documentary, titled "I Trained With BTS: Being on the Brink of Fame and Then Losing it All," Jihoon revealed he trained with Big Hit Entertainment, the management that handles BTS, between 2011 and 2012.

At the time, Jihoon was just 18 and he was surprised to have made the cut on his first try.

Kim Jihoon Shares Experiences With BTS

After meeting the other members of BTS and training with them, Jihoon noticed that everyone was getting better in their craft, but he wasn't very confident with his abilities.

So, the day came when the management informed him that he needs to be cut from the group. Even if Jihoon was so used to questioning his abilities, he still didn't understand why Big Hit Entertainment let go of him.

Their decision caused Jihoon to question if he's really in the right industry.

Just like other performers across the globe, Jihoon also went through a phase wherein he questioned if he was good enough. Even if he dedicated several hours a day to practice and even lacked sleep at some point, he still wasn't at par with his peers.

After accepting the fact that he would no longer be part of BTS, Jihoon moved on to do other things.

In the past, he would proudly tell his friends that he was supposed to be part of the K-pop group. But he stopped doing so after realizing how famous BTS has become.

Kim Jihoon Shares Biggest Regret After Leaving BTS

One of Jihoon's biggest regrets is not being able to stay in touch with V, Jungkook, Park Jimin, Suga, Jin, RM, and J-Hope.

But before their lives were turned upside down because of fame, Jihoon stayed in touch with his former groupmates. In fact, he even snuck into their dorm to bring fried chicken even if he was no longer allowed to be part of the group.

Toward the end of the documentary, Jihoon admitted he sometimes feels jealous of BTS not because of their fame and money but because they are all still working together.

If given the chance, Jihoon said that he wants to throw a massive party and invite everyone that he worked with while he was still a trainee at Big Hit Entertainment. But he doesn't know if this day will ever come.

Jihoon is not wrong to say that BTS has become very famous especially in the past three years. The phenomenal group has also received several awards including the American Music Award for Artist of the Year 2021, MTV Video Music Award for Best Choreography 2020, MTV Europe Music Award for Best Song 2020, and more.

Some of BTS's most famous songs include "Butter," "My Universe," and "Dynamite."
