JYP Entertainment's upcoming girl group NMIXX is scheduled to make their debut on February 22, 2022. As their debut date gets closer and closer, the more they have become the focus of the K-pop community.

Now, they are being accused of copying aespa.

From February 10 to February 13, JYP Entertainment released the individual "MIX" concept photos for NMIXX's first album "AD MARE."

While the girls were already accused of copying aespa's "Savage" teasers for their "N" concept teasers, allegations were only fueled with the latest set of teasers.

The "MIX" teasers were immediately compared to aespa's "Black Mamba" debut teasers. This is due to the use of the same pink-purple-blue pastel background, the sea animal details and the overall dreamy atmosphere.

When the teasers were shared online, internet users took to social media and community sites to discuss the alleged plagiarism. Many agree that it appears JYP Entertainment is taking a page out of SM Entertainment's book.

However, some have defended the yet-to-debut girl group.

Fans Jump To NMIXX's Defense

While people agreed that NMIXX appeared to be copying aespa, others disagreed. It was noted that aespa, at the start of their career, was accused of plagiarizing their debut concept from Bryan Hyunh. The photographer called out SM Entertainment for copying his work.

However, the two parties settled the accusations, and Bryan Hyunh soon worked with aespa for their "Next Level" teasers.

Additionally, many fans claim that while aespa was known for the purple and pink background, it is not a style that is exclusive to them. It was also noted that NMIXX's debut single "AD MARE" is related to the sea and ocean, meaning the use of sea animals directly relates to their concept.
