Former April Chaewon Leaves DSP Media Days After Updating Fans on Hyunjoo Lawsuit

Former April member Chaewon has cut ties with DSP Media after six years.

Former April Chaewon Departs from DSP Media

On Monday, February 14, DSP Media released a statement, confirming that Chaewon's contract with them officially ended on Friday, Feb. 11.

According to the management, they had thorough discussions with Chaewon but they collectively decided in the end that it's time to part ways.

The agency also wished their former talent all the best and took the opportunity to take Chaewon's fans for supporting her throughout the years.

Former April Chaewon Gives Update on Hyunjoo Lawsuit

On Feb. 3, Chaewon also made headlines after she gave her fans an update regarding the lawsuit that she filed against Lee Hyunjoo.

Prior to this, April shocked their fans when they announced their decision to disband in 2021.

At the time, the K-pop group was embroiled in two bullying scandals involving some of its members.

One of the bullying scandals were later resolved after Naeun's accuser confirmed that the allegations were fake.

However, Chaewon's lawsuit against Hyunjoo carried on.

To recall, Hyunjoo claimed April members bullied her to the point that she committed self-harm because she just couldn't handle it.

Hyunjoo's brother and close friends were the first to make the allegations public. They also accused Chaewon of sleeping with their manager to keep him quiet.

After a year, April announced that they are officially disbanded. The girl group dissolved on Jan. 8, 2022.

But before this, the other members of April vehemently denied Hyunjoo's claims. They also filed a lawsuit against Hyunjoo and her brother.

April member Yena penned a letter to their fans saying that their reputation will forever be tarnished because of Hyunjoo. She also said that the allegations was one of the main reasons why April decided to go their separate ways.

On Feb. 2, Chaewon announced that her lawsuit against Hyunjoo would move forward. She also promised to file an appeal after Hyunjoo was cleared from her defamation claims.

In June 2021, Chaewon also responded to Hyunjoo's cryptic Instagram post.

At the time, Hyunjoo said that she will also file a lawsuit against the members of April. But if they will man up and apologize for their wrongdoing, she would accept their apology.

Chaewon fired back by saying that she and the other members of April never committed any wrongdoing against Hyunjoo. She added that the group was in the middle of gathering all evidences that would prove that Hyunjoo was the one at fault.

April Worked Together From 2015 to 2021

April debuted on Aug. 24, 2015. The all-female group was composed of six members, namely, Chaekyung, Chaewon, Naeun, Yena, Rachel, and Jinsol.

Hyunjoo and Somin are listed online as the group's past members because they left before April officially disbanded.

April's albums include "Da Capo," "The Ruby," "The Blue," "Eternity," "Spring," and Dreaming."
