In January this year, the "SOLO" singer was reportedly launching his own boy group soon.
According to reports, he plans to launch a new label for the idol group, in tentative partnership with Kakao.
In particular, prior to becoming founder and CEO of his labels, Jay Park debuted first as a K-pop idol under JYP Entertainment. He joined 2PM and was introduced in 2008.
Industry officials commented on Park's desire to follow the footsteps of Park Jin Young, JYP founder, and create a new wave in the K-pop industry through his own color and style.
In the YouTube interview then, Jay Park hinted at the concept he has on mind for the upcoming boyband.
"I want to make an idol that has not been introduced in K-pop yet. I want to show an idol composed of confident and humane members who honestly show their shortcomings, not a singer who covers their shortcomings," Park emphasized.
With this, Jay Park implied that rather than idols who followed the idol standard in terms of visuals, body ratio as well as perfect cut vocals, dance and skills, he plans to introduce artists who are not afraid to show their flaws.
Jay Park Addresses Retirement Rumor, Says He Plans to Make a Comeback Soon
Meanwhile, the idol turned K-hip hop star addressed his retirement rumor after he decided to step down as CEO of AOMG and H1GHR Music in December last year.
"I'm not retiring yet. I just wanted to recharge after working nonstop for 12 years. I think I was tired, I thought about it for a long time. As the company's structure and organization were gradually caught, the part I had to take charge of decreased. I quit my position as a representative for a new challenge because I wanted to do something," he explained.
Regarding his comeback, Jay Park said, "I released an R&B album in 2016, and they liked it a lot. We are currently working on a full-length album in the R&B genre."
Also, regarding his own alcoholic beverage brand, the rapper said, "I gave soju to many people saying it was Korean alcohol, and 'Is this your alcohol?' I've been asked this question a lot. They said, 'I think it'd be good if you started, too.' I've been thinking of ideas since then. I wanted to promote Korean culture with alcohol."
As the interview concluded, Jay expressed his desire to give a stir in the industry and promote culture by taking on new challenges.
