BIGBANG, Girls’ Generation, 2NE1 Are Top K-pop Picks of THIS Breakout Actress

Jung Ho Yeon Reveals to Be Fan of 2nd-Gen K-pop Icons BIGBANG, Girls' Generation and 2NE1

In an interview with i-D magazine, "Squid Game" lead star Jung Ho Yeon revealed she has always been a K-pop fan ever since she was a kid.

Since she grew up in South Korea, it was not unusual for her to listen to K-pop music. She revealed that she loves listening to second-generation groups.

During the interview, the model-actress was asked, "Where did you grow up and what was that like?"

Jung Ho Yeon then said, "I grew up in Seoul. When you grow up in Korea, I think, you must be a huge fan of K-pop."

She went on, "I'm a huge fan of 2NE1, Girls' Generation, and BIGBANG. These are the groups that I've been a huge fan since, like, childhood."

Jung Ho Yeon also said that she has been listening to all three K-pop groups for years. In fact, she is also an ARMY!

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that the model turned actress opened up about her love for K-pop.

During an interview with Variety in November 2021, Jung Ho Yeon and her "Squid Game" co-stars were asked who they think will most likely sing a BTS song.

Jung Ho Yeon adorably said that it would be her, but her second choice would be Park Hae Soo.

Jung Ho Yeon Details Her Friendship With BLACKPINK Jennie

Fans of the 27-year-old actress also know that she's BFFs with BLACKPINK Jennie. Thus, there's no questioning her links to the K-pop world.

In October 2021, Jung Ho Yeon sat down for an interview with Teen Vogue where she shared how she and BLACKPINK Jennie met.

She said that they crossed paths at the Paris Fashion Week, where she modeled for Chanel. BLACKPINK Jennie was there as she is the global ambassador for the luxury brand, and her stylist introduced her to Jung Ho Yeon.

Shortly after, the two South Korean A-listers became good friends and started hanging out regularly. BLACKPINK Jennie was also very proud of Jung Ho Yeon's acting stint in "Squid Game."

In fact, the K-pop idol posted an Instagram Story about "Squid Game" even before it premiered, which Jung Ho Yeon said she'll forever be grateful for.

K-pop Idols Turned K-Drama Actors

Of course, the world of K-pop and K-drama have been crossing over in South Korea for years. In fact, several K-pop idols have also tried their luck in acting and vice versa.

For instance, BTOB Yook SungJae starred in "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God," which debuted in 2016.

Other K-pop idols who are also known as actors include 2PM OK Taecyeon in "Vincenzo," IU in "Hotel Del Luna," BTS V in "Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth," EXO D.O. in "100 Days My Prince," and many more.

International Celebrities Who Are K-pop Fans

Outside of South Korea, there is also a slew of international celebrities that also happen to be huge K-pop fans.

For instance, Emma Stone previously told Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" that she's an ARMY. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith's son, Jaden Smith is a huge fan of BIGBANG G-Dragon.
