Music Critic Koo Ja Hyoung Unveils Reason on Writing BLACKPINK's Biography – Who is He?

On February 24, various Korean media outlets announced that the world's first biography about BLACKPINK will be published by a famous music critic.

In particular, Koo Ja Hyoung is a legendary broadcast writer and music critic who made headlines by publishing a review of BTS and Cho Yong Pil.

During a press interview for the biography book, Koo praised BTS and BLACKPINK's achievements over the years.

"If BTS, which debuted in 2013, changed the paradigm of world music from 'tears and tragedy' to 'challenge and dream recovery,' BLACKPINK, who debuted in 2016, miraculously overcame 'six years of harsh training' and achieved the 'world's No. 1 YouTube subscribers with 72.4 million,' and achieved 21st-century freedom as a global citizen, musician, woman and human with BLINK (BLACKPINK fandom)."

He continued to praise the quartet saying, "They have been creating dynamic time and space with songs such as 'PRETTY SAVAGE' and 'LOVESICK GIRLS,' presenting unwavering impressions to people around the world for six years."

Regarding the reason for BLACKPINK's publication, Koo Ja Hyeong briefly explained, "I sensed a very special star rating since BLACKPINK's debut and instinctively prepared and wrote BLACKPINK's reputation over the past three years."

Written by music critic Koo Ja Hyeong under the title of "RAIN DANCE 2.8_ART & BLACKPINK," the book will be divided into four books, which will be dropped sequentially in the first half of 2022.

The first book will be released on March 14, and the final and original version from Volume 1 to 4 will have 640 pages in total.

In the first part, Koo Ja Hyeong selects and introduces the most important female pop stars in the history of the world's women's liberation movement as the first theme including Billie Holiday, Carole King, Helen Reddy, Tina Turner, etc. and decorates the grand finale with BLACKPINK.

For Volume 2, BLACKPINK's comparison of musicality with other creative artists will be discussed.

For Volume 3, it will focus on the struggles and success stories of the four members Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé and Lisa.

Lastly, Volume 4 will tackle BLACKPINK's hit performance and song reviews from the music critic himself. BLACKPINK's reputation enhances the artistry of the book as well by participating in contemporary artworks, such as Chun Ji soo, Lee Doo Seop, Park Moon-sook, Kim Hye-young, Kim Hye-jin, more.

In particular, the title "Rain Dance" expresses the grand sight of elephants moving places during the dry to the rainy season. "2.8" was based on the fact that 2.8% of Earth's total area has mysterious natural undeveloped areas on Earth, where no human visit has been made yet.
