BTS' V Almost Committed Grave Error Ahead of Group's Collab With Coldplay

BTS V almost spoiled the K-pop group's collaboration with Coldplay on the hit song, "My Universe."

The track was released on Sept. 24, 2021, and it immediately became a massive hit.

BTS Kept Their Collab With Coldplay a Secret

Even though Coldplay and BTS come from different genres of music, both artists managed to make things work.

And what's great about the collaboration between Coldplay and BTS was that no one knew or even suspected that they were working on something together. But in May 2021, BTS sat down for an interview with AskAnything Chat and BTS V almost spoiled the collaboration.

The interviewer asked the K-pop idols what they do to prevent their voices from getting strained. BTS RM jokingly said that he likes to shout before singing.

But it was BTS V's response that is getting the attention of ARMYs today.

In the interview, BTS V said that a famous friend of theirs gave them an oil that helps prevent the straining of their throat.

BTS V did not reveal the identity of their famous friend, but a video of the interview shows the other group members looking at each other.

It seemed as though they were trying to remind BTS V that he was not supposed to say anything about Chris Martin and Coldplay.

Since "My Universe" was released in September 2021, it is highly likely that the two groups were already working on their collaboration when BTS sat down for an interview with AskAnything Chat.

However, it was also entirely possible for BTS V to not have spoiled anything about Martin and Coldplay because their interview was released after they dropped "My Universe."

Chris Martin Swears by Throat Oil

Now, ARMYs are speculating that the famous friend in question is, indeed, Martin - and they have proof.

In 2016, the British artist sat down for an interview with Elvis Duran and said that he loves using throat oil because it opens the nasal passages and is, therefore, nice to sing with.

It's also entirely possible for BTS V to have been talking about another famous friend. After all, the K-pop group has already made it big in Hollywood and other parts of the world.

But the timing of the interview and his revelation suggests otherwise.

BTS V Earns International Recognition With 'Christmas Tree'

Elsewhere, BTS V also made headlines after his hit song, "Christmas Tree" earned him a new international recognition.

On Feb. 24, it was revealed that "Christmas Tree" already spent five weeks on the Billboard Global 200 Excl US charts.

This means that the BTS V and "Christmas Tree" have been the longest-charting Korean OST and Korean male soloist to ever be part of the chart.
