K-Media Reporters Face Backlash After Disrespectful Remarks Towards BTS Amid Departure to Las Vegas
On March 28, BTS members, RM, Jin, Suga, Jimin, and V arrived at the Incheon International Airport to board a flight to Las Vegas.
The superstar group are headed to the United States to attend the 64th Grammy Awards and to hold their four-night "Permission to Dance On Stage" concert. Reporters flock to the airport to catch a glimpse of the members leaving the country.
The reporters also held a live stream of BTS' departure through their official Youtube channel. However, one particular moment during the live stream caught the attention of BTS fans, ARMY.
Prior to the arrival of BTS at the airport, many reporters and fans could be heard waiting for the members. But a conversation between a male and female K-Media reporter was heard.
In the live stream, the female reporter can be heard saying, "[BTS] are not coming out today."
To this, a male reporter responded by saying, "Yes, five people. Out of those, you don't really have to focus on RM and Suga. Just focus on the other three." The other three members refer to Jin, Jimin, and V.

K-Media Reporters Called Out for Discrimination
Following the live stream, fans who caught the short exchange quickly shared it to other social media platforms, especially on Twitter. They expressed their anger on the lack of professionalism the media reporters showcased.
Many have called out the reporters for showing discrimination against their own countrymen. Their basis for "ignoring" RM and Suga could possibly be due to popularity perceptions. The reporters assumed that the two rappers are not popular in their own right.
However, ARMYs did not take this lightly as both RM and Suga are considered the backbone of BTS. They produced countless songs that have broken numerous records, both domestic and international, to date.
Many have also expressed their disappointment, as the live stream was watched by both domestic and international fans.

Fans of other K-Pop groups also criticized the reporters, and shared how the reporters also have the same behavior towards other idol groups and that it should not be tolerated.
Some comments from fans read:
"FIRST GIDLE NOW BTS?? WHO THE FVCK GAVE THEM THE RIGHT TO TALK SH*T ABOUT IDOLS."
"This is the type of stuff that fuels things like member pricing. It's clear that certain members are more favourable to people in terms of appearance but it will never sit right w me when they make it known publicly to their faces. I hope their SD card corrupts and they lose everything."
"When I say SK doesn't deserve BTS, this is what I mean..these boys are heading to write history for your country, but the medias in SK only think of milking them as much as they can, even without showing a bit of respect...how low you guys can be??"
As of writing, the live stream has been removed from the Youtube channel.
