(G)I-DLE returned with their new album "I NEVER DIE" on March 14. "I NEVER DIE" is the girl group's first studio album and it is composed of eight new songs, one of which is the title track "TOMBOY."
Ahead of the release of the full-length album, (G)I-DLE dropped a series of teaser photos and videos. One interesting detail that caught fans' attention is that the letter "G" in the group's name was missing in the pictures.

For starters, the "G" in the girl group's name represents "girl," because in Korean, the term is "(여자)아이들" which reads "yeoja aideul" and translates to "girl idol" in English.
During an interview with Teen Vogue magazine on March 31, one of the topics discussed was the missing letter "G" in "(G)I-DLE."
Jeon Soyeon shared that for their latest comeback, they paid attention to themes of not conforming to genders or their roles, and so, they decided to get rid of the "G" in their name.
She explained, "What we want to convey is that we don't want to attribute our actions to gender or age. Because I'm me is why I am, and why I act the way I do."

Besides (G)I-DLE's "I NEVER DIE" teasers, the title track "TOMBOY" also follows this concept. The group can be heard chanting "It's neither man nor woman, just me I-DLE" toward the end of the song.
It appears like their plan about the message of their new album worked as they are receiving positive feedback from K-pop fans and netizens alike.
