Coridel Entertainment Responds to Claims That Jessica Jung is Chinese-Korean
On April 3, a photo of the alleged roster for the upcoming season of "Sister Who Make Waves," a Chinese survival show, was leaked online.

Jessica Jung was listed as a contestant under her Korean name, Jung Sooyeon. In her personal details, the list notes that she was born in the United States in 1998 and graduated from Kent Foreign School in South Korea. She was also introduced as a Girls' Generation member.
However, the one detail that attracted the most attention was her ethnicity. On the roster, they claimed the female idol is Chinese-Korean.

This sparked mixed reactions from internet users. Jessica Jung has never personally stated that she is of Chinese descent. It is also known that both her parents are Korean.
On April 4, Coridel Entertainment released a statement concerning the claims. They confirmed that the idol is participating in an audition program in China. They are currently verifying if the production crew labeled her as Chinese-Korean. They also added that she does not promote using the group's name because she has left Girls' Generation.

Soon after, the label stated that the broadcasting station was not the one that created the list. Instead, they noted that an internet user made a fake list with fake information and spread it online.
With that, the company indirectly refuted the claims that Jessica Jung is Chinese-Korean.

Jessica Jung is set to appear on "Sister Who Make Waves," a show that features female celebrities who are 30 years old and above. The survival show shows these celebrities competing for an opportunity to debut as a member of a new girl group.
Jessica Jung is reportedly in Changsha, Hunan Province, to film for the show.

Jessica Jung's last musical release was her single, "Call Me Before You Sleep," which was released on September 26, 2020, digitally and on October 9 physically. The Korean version of the single features rapper Giriboy, while the physical version features Sandaime J Soul Brothers' CrazyBoy.
