Sunmi, Sandara, GOT7 BamBam Reveal Why They Chose ABYSS Company as New Nest

Coming from "BIG 3" agencies YG and JYP Entertainment, Sunmi, Sandara Park and GOT7 BamBam revealed what they saw in ABYSS Company for them to choose it as their new nest after leaving their respective companies.

On April 25, Abyss Company artists Sunmi, Sandara Park, Urban Zakapa, Park Won, GOT7 BamBam, and Melomance, who sail through the abyss of music together, sat down with Vogue Korea for an interview and pictorial.

In particular, ABYSS company is home to various artists working on their own music and genre in an idol-oriented market. The artists relayed how the company has given them the authority and support to tell their stories away from the absolute system.

Sunmi Reveals Her Transfer to ABYSS Grants Her THIS Dream, Aspiration

During the interview, Sunmi, who was a former Wonder Girls member under JYP Entertainment, expressed her grateful heart for joining ABYSS.

After leaving her group, it was in ABYSS that Sunmi was able to expand her solo career and debut as a producer.

"I wanted to establish the color of artist Sunmi while transferring. Starting with "Gashina" (2017), which is a song that participated in the lyrics, I've put my story into the album as a producer. I was encouraged that my story could reach the public."

Before this song, Sunmi initially thought that she would only pursue her singing career for three more years, based on the female idol market.

However, Sunmi sets a new precedent, saying:

"I'm going to do my best for the next 10 years. I can't be a hot and trendy singer for the next 10 years because I'm an artist who's been consumed for a long time, but I want to make crazy moments. I hope it's a good example for my friends who start in similar situations."

GOT7 BamBam Shares ABYSS Company's Vision Led Him To Choose It as His New Label

In the same Vogue Korea talk, BamBam revealed that Sunmi gave him advice amid his search for a new agency after leaving JYP Entertainment.

With the mind of starting his solo career, BamBam shared that it was also ABYSS Company's vision that made him sign a contract.

"The plan to focus not only on Thailand but also on Korea has definitely moved my mind. There are so many things I want to show in Korea."

He also left his thoughts on promoting his own music, saying:

"I think music is not about competition but about going together. Red Velvet, Lovelyz, GFRIEND, and WINNER, who debuted around the same time, I hope we can promote for a long time."

Dara Hints at Solo Comeback Under New Agency ABYSS

Last but not least, Dara, a former 2NE1 member, shared the reason she chose ABYSS was due to her solo comeback plans.

After 2NE1 disbanded, she initially stayed under YG Entertainment until she decided to part ways with them in May 2021.

After signing with her new agency in September last year, Dara emphasized the importance of showing the public what kind of music she wants and what kind of soloist she want to become.

"I like acting, but I want to be on stage first. Fans say they filled up their bank accounts and they want us to make a comeback soon. You don't have to spend money, but support and love are enough.

I'm thinking about dozens of songs almost every day for a breakthrough that I've never had before. Of course, there's a lot of pressure. Before that, I was surrounded by people who supported me, but now I'm taking my first step as a soloist. But I believe I will grow."
