LE SSERAFIM Sakura Opens Up About Struggles in Learning Korean
On April 26, LE SSERAFIM member Sakura appeared in a video with odg. In the video, she meets one Korean kid and one Japanese kid and converses with them in their native tongue. She answers their questions and informs them about her career in South Korea.

During the video, Sakura spoke about her struggles to learn Korean.
After competing on "Produce 48," she mentioned how she had to make her debut right away despite not speaking Korean. Sakura told the Korean kid that her skills in the language were like him speaking Japanese. All she knew at the time were simple greetings and "thank you."

Sakura revealed she did not know what teachers were telling her during practices and did not understand the lyrics she was singing. She had to keep searching for the meanings.
Sakura revealed she found it difficult not knowing the language. For example, when she appeared on variety shows, people would make jokes and laugh, but she would not understand the situation.
So instead, she would force herself to laugh to match the mood despite not knowing what was happening.

LE SSERAFIM member Sakura then revealed she felt lonely when she first moved to South Korea.

She informed the Korean kid that she could not see her parents when she first came to South Korea. At first, she thought she would be okay because she went to the country to do what she loves. However, she soon realized it was more challenging than she thought.
However, she revealed that whenever people would try to speak to her in Japanese, she would feel relieved. During her time in IZ*ONE, she had members who spoke some Japanese, and they would try to help her when she did not speak Korean at all.
