4 Fourth-Gen Female K-Pop Idols Accused of ‘Lazy’ Dancing

These four 4th-generation female K-pop idols have garnered flak for their "lazy" dancing on stage.

1. aespa Winter

On May 26, aespa performed at both Hanyang University and Korea University. Despite being the group's most famous member in South Korea and aespa's lead dancer, WInter earned flak for alleged lazy dancing.

According to internet users and attendees at the music festival, the idol danced with little energy and skipped movements, such as the head-spinning move at "Black Mamba." In addition, people claimed she started showing signs of lazy dancing during promotions for GOT (Girls on Top) the Beat.

Though many attempted to defend her, saying her hair accessories were hindering her movements, others stated that idols should always perform with their best energy.

2. IVE Jang Wonyong

On December 3, 2021, IVE performed their debut song "ELEVEN" On "Music Bank." The girls had to perform a strong hair flipping move during the intro performance. All the members did it, flipping their hair wildly.

However, Jang Wonyoung did not fully execute the move and was out of sync. In addition, throughout the performance, Jang Wonyoung made several choreography mistakes.

People criticized the idol, speculating she wanted to maintain her hairstyle and opted not to perform the move for the sake of her looks.

Following the backlash, Jang Wonyoung was seen performing the choreography with more energy.

3. ITZY Lia

ITZY is a group with solid dance skills. However, because all the other members are strong dancers, Lia, ITZY's main vocal, is often accused of being lazy when performing.

While Yeji, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna are always praised for their dancing, Lia is criticized for her poor skills. People claim that though she is often told to improve, she has shown little growth over the years. Some even claim that in some stages, she looks bored.

Many have defended Lia, saying that her dance skills are obviously not as good as the other members since she is the main vocalist. However, internet users believe Lia is dragging ITZY down because of her poor skills.

4. (G)I-DLE Shuhua

While Shuhua is famous for her visuals, she is often criticized for her poor performance skills. Though it has been five years since her debut, people believe the Taiwanese idol has not been able to improve her skills.

Shuhua's dancing skills are far behind her members. What also infuriates internet users is the lack of variety in facial expressions, with many saying her expressions on stage are always blank.

However, following "TOMBOY," Shuhua has garnered praise for her drastic improvement in charisma and expressions. Still, many hope she continues to improve to be more balanced with the other three members.
