Jeongyeon Confirmed TWICE Contract Renewal With JYP? Here's What She Said

With the group TWICE set to renew its contract with JYP this year in its seventh year since its debut, member Jeongyeon's remarks are drawing attention.

Will TWICE Leave JYP? Jeongyeon Hints at Contract Renewal

Following the rule set by Fair Trade Commission in 2009 that limits a contract's validity to seven years, eyes are focused on whether "Nation's Girl Group" TWICE will renew its contract with JYP Entertainment.

In particular, the nine-member group that debuted in 2015 is set to renew its contract with the company this 2022.

There are divided opinions if the group will remain in the company or if they will follow the step of GOT7, who left JYP to become a self-owned group while pursuing their respective solo careers.

While there's a strong opinion from internet users that the team will possibly renew their contract, there are also netizens that are skeptical about it.

But these worries were lifted by member Jeongyeon, who sent a message on the paid messaging app Lysn's Bubble on June 12.

Jeongyeon, who continued to communicate with fans on that day specifically drew attention after she indirectly confirmed her as well as TWICE's contract renewal with JYP.

The "What Is Love?" singer said:

"We have video (contents) packed until October. So if I have to do 'Melody Project,' I have to do it after October."

She added:

"You can look forward to it next year."

Apparently, a fan asked Jeongyeon about her plans of doing "Melody Project," a video content project launched by TWICE under JYP Entertainment to feature their solo skills through their own music videos.

The project started in 2016, and so far, Jeongyeon is yet to showcase her own abilities for the project.

Upon hearing Jeongyeon's remarks then, fans expressed expectations for the renewal of all TWICE members, saying:

"I think it's right to renew the contract by next year."

"I expected it, but I feel good."

"I thought that they would renew, of course."

Here Are Other Hints That TWICE Will Renew Contract With JYP Entertainment

Meanwhile, last month, TWICE members including Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu reported the opening of their personal Instagram accounts.

This is the first time TWICE has opened a personal SNS since its debut, and some responded that they all hinted at renewing their contracts through the opening of a personal Instagram.

According to fans especially ONCEs:

"This is only just the start of their career."

"I'm looking forward to their individual activities."

Second, fans emphasized that TWICE will unlikely leave JYP yet because they just announced the second act of their career. According to reports, TWICE will start to debut as solo artists or sub-units in the following months and this large-scale project will be marked by Nayeon's solo debut on June 24.

Meanwhile, aside from Nayeon's self-titled debut album, TWICE will also release its fourth full-length album, "Celebrate" on July 27 to mark the fifth anniversary of its official debut in Japan this year and commemorate the special day.
