Key of the group SHINee was embroiled in an unexpected "controversy" following the recent broadcast of MBC's "I Live Alone."
SHINee Key Embroiled in Unexpected 'Controversy'
On June 16, Key, a regular cast for the MBC reality program, "I Live Alone" became a hot topic on various online communities due to his car. In particular, the "BAD LOVE" singer was recently spotted driving his car to meet someone.
Following the broadcast, his car became the center of interest and it was known that he owns a Mercedes-Benz's AMG GT 4-door Coupe whose prices range from 130 million won (about 100,000 USD) to 240 million won (186,000 USD), depending on its features.

But on top of this, there was something else that drew more attention than the price of the vehicle.
Internet users highlighted that Key owned a matte vehicle and not a shiny one.
Hilariously, according to the author of the post, this was an attitude that didn't fit the group's image and name – "SHINee" (shiny).
The post drew attention from web users and K-pop enthusiasts and they joined the hilarious discussion and jokingly criticized the male idol.
Some responded by saying:
"The group name is SHINee, but (the car) it's matte."
"Do you mean (we) shine, but not your car?"
"It's funny that this is 'controversial'."
Other K-pop enthusiasts also left comments such as:
"You are SHINee (shiny), but you choose matte."
"Didn't you buy it matte because you're a person who receives light? (will give the light)"
"What's the controversy over SHINee and matte?"
"It's not true to your duty (as SHINee) to ride matte."
SHINee Key, Minho Enter Hot Topic Ranking Following Episode of MBC 'I Live Alone'
On the other hand, the hilarious "controversy" sparked after the latest episode of MBC's "I Live Alone" on June 10, featuring 91-liners Key and Minho of SHINee.
On that day, the duo met up at Key's house and later on went to Han River to enjoy water leisure together with HIGHLIGHT Dongwoon.
Key, a former water skier in the past, broke through the current and showed off his high-quality skills to provide a cool sense of freedom through the screen.
In addition to water skiing, the three (Minho, Key, Dongwoon) enjoyed the speed of another water ride that crosses the Han River at full speed, causing them to laugh.
The three of them had a funny "quarrel" while playing in the water together, but they even took care of Son Dongwoon's birthday by giving him gifts.
Following the broadcast, the episode topped the non-drama TV hotspot on Friday for 12 consecutive weeks and became second in the overall non-drama rankings.
According to Nielsen Korea, MBC's "I Live Alone," recorded 8.8% (based on the metropolitan area), ranking first among entertainment programs on Friday.
In the cast's hot topic ranking by Good Data Corporation, all the cast members of the show were at the center of the talk on that day including SHINee Key who ranked third and Minho who ranked ninth.
